Los Angeles

Post by jackquinox » Wed Mar 11, 2015 9:02 pm

I haven't posted on this forum in a long long old time but hope the good people of DSF can help with some suggestions.

Me and the Mrs are off to L.A for a week in April, we will be staying in the Echo Park area, was wondering if any L.A natives or folks that have been a few times can recommend any good pubs/bars, eating houses, shops, clubs that are unique and would be worth a visit.

I realize this isn't a travel forum but figured that people on the DSF would know good places to go and be happy to share a bit of knowledge to the visitors.

Thanks in advance.

These guys throw some great parties:

You should also make sure to stop by Amoeba Music in Hollywood.

I'd also def recommend renting a car as well if you're not already planning on it, public transportation is pretty shitty in LA. (and be prepared for some hyper aggressive southern california drivers haha)

Delicious Thai food:

Toi (On Sunset)
7505 1/2 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046

There's also Canter's Deli... Famous for seeing Hollywood and music types, the food's not bad. It's not great either, but it's not bad.

lol word canter's is really not great but it's been a pretty solid post-show stop for the squad

guisados is a good shout for mexican food in echo park. silverlake ramen is in the area too and it's one of the better spots for ramen in LA, real reason i mention it though is cause it's conveniently right across from los globos where there's decent nights going on a few times a month (somewhat less lately though). other venues that have good lineups pretty frequently are jewels catch one, complex, the echo / echoplex (also in echo park as you may have guessed). then there's low end theory every wednesday, not really what it used to be both in terms of what's being played + the crowd, but every once in a while they'll have someone good out of the blue like untold, kode9, alix perez

and yeah amoeba is definitely worth a visit. mount analog is a priority too if youre into house or techno at all
