Sick tune, nice one, that 12 and the "when you hold me" 12.

Hell yes. Dubstep needs to get the swing back. I missed most of this only getting into it in mid 2006, but am constantly checking out the older 2steppy side.Ory wrote:Here's hoping for a dark 2-step revival.
Burial is already pretty huge, and definitely on a 2step tip, El-B released some new stuff, and you have Shonky/Dysfunktion/whatever making some nice 2 steppy sounds too.
Actually FWD last friday was almost lacking in halfstep tunes. Obviously scientist's old garage set was going to be 2step, but kode and tubby also played some nice slinky stuff.
Love this sound so much
this period waz so unreal ! that waz oh my days ! a big change in ma life !

Get me- I still love a lot of halfstep but the old 2 step stuff is proper dancing party vibes music. Makes you want to bounce around rather than assault someone with a bottle.Slim wrote:Hell yes. I just dug this out from DJ Magazine 23 March 2001 - in the words of Philippa Read who did the reviews on the UK Garage page:
HORSEPOWER PRODUCTIONS - Gorgon Sound (Tempa)
"Bored of hearing samey two step cynical cash-ins or heavy-handed bass monsters? The Horsepower trio offer up another delicious slab of the "thinking person's two step". You can almost smell the skunk in the air with "Gorgon Sound", a semi-ambient but bass-levered roller that takes its lead from dub. A real back of the club head nodder."
Btw - there are also reviews of Phuturistix (Deepdown EP - Locked On)
and Quest "Overdose" (Soulja) on the same page!
Perhaps if you were to substitute the first "two-step" in the quote with "half-step" we might recognize a situation not too dissimilar to the present moment? Or not

Might be nostalgia, but loads of the 2 step cash-ins were way better than the halfstep version - mind you garage had an eye on the charts and the underground so selling out wasn't such a big deal.numaestro wrote:Perhaps if you were to substitute the first "two-step" in the quote with "half-step" we might recognize a situation not too dissimilar to the present moment? Horsepower though - the original and still the best as proven at Dubpressure in September. Hope Mr Ill's absence from these boards means there's more productions en route
Hmm....
