new track; feedback wanted (updated!)

Post by willb » Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:12 pm

This one is in progress. I started out wanting to do something on the Martial Arts riddim, but it's wound up rather different. I'd appreciate any feedback on the track:

UPDATE: please check out the revised version.

thanks for listening!

This is a moody piece. Takes a while for the bass to pop in... :)

I like the melodic bass and discordant sounds. I love the way that it doesn't feel overly electronic, too. Film score stuff.

Um, maybe the chime could be brought up a little? Maybe some pad chord work to compliment the melodic bass? It could provide such a lift.

Neato.

Yeah i thought that too..

Veeery moody.. i like this though, its different, some nice unexpected snare/perc hits going on there.. and the abstract melody/notes jus gives it that mysterious profile.

Not a massive fan of the midrange bass in this, as i think the tune sounded bless without it, speakers are shit so i cant tell if theres a sub, but if theres not.. there shud something there underneath the track, jus to drive it along.

Very good effort, will look forward to listening again when you've finished.

slow builder here

but that bass is nice (esp those decending notes)

the beat is good, however I think you'd get a bit more play with this one if you rearranged it so the intro isnt as long

cheers

Er, by "later today," I meant "next week." Here's an updated version. I'm still toying with the idea of adding some more chordal pad/stab type sounds, but I don't know if I want it any denser.
