This has pretty much been on repeat since I picked it up!
Absolute quality from beginning to end - can't really pick a favourite at the minute, although 'Six Times Seven' sounds particularly nice. Big up Geiom!
Also, the artwork and packaging are sick. Nice to see some time being spent on that kind of thing - results in a quality product.

just listened thru all the tracks on boomkat.com's MP3 section, I've got to say that while it has about 7 or 8 truly brilliant tracks, this really should have been a 2X12 release with just the cream of the crop...it feels like there's too much filler in there in the sense that the tracks all sound very simliar, but some of them are crunkulated much better than others, so having the less good tracks in there just dilutes the effect of the really excellent ones. That said, the worst tracks on here are still better than a lot of tracks on the scene right now, so no harm done.
That's just my 2 cents though, and I'm sure there are plenty that like the whole thing...I just tend to prefer highly concentrated doses when it comes to stuff like this

That's quite interesting because I thought one of the strengths of the album was that it worked as an album, to be listened to in its entirity. It's similar to the Burial album for me...I want to listen to the whole thing and get fully emersed in it. I like that it doesn't just feel like a randomly put together collection of singles and that the flow and vibe builds through the album.beatcarnival wrote:just listened thru all the tracks on boomkat.com's MP3 section, I've got to say that while it has about 7 or 8 truly brilliant tracks, this really should have been a 2X12 release with just the cream of the crop...it feels like there's too much filler in there in the sense that the tracks all sound very simliar, but some of them are crunkulated much better than others, so having the less good tracks in there just dilutes the effect of the really excellent ones. 7 or 8 'truly brilliant' tracks isn't bad for a 12 track albumbeatcarnival wrote:it has about 7 or 8 truly brilliant tracks

I know, I totally see the burial comparison, and I agree they all certainly mesh well as an album...but it felt like some of the tracks were just less memorable redos of other tracks on the album...that's all I meant by what I was saying.Ed G wrote:That's quite interesting because I thought one of the strengths of the album was that it worked as an album, to be listened to in its entirity. And 7 or 8 truly brilliant tracks is definitely not bad for an album, but imagine if those were the ONLY tracks on there (in like a heavy 2X12, or even better, a super-loud 3X12 pressing) and you were like 'holy shit, this WHOLE THING is just impeccably awesome'

Fair enough mate, all personal opinion in the end isn't it. (Although the album's not out on vinyl, so there aren't really any issues with the quality of pressings.)beatcarnival wrote:I know, I totally see the burial comparison, and I agree they all certainly mesh well as an album...but it felt like some of the tracks were just less memorable redos of other tracks on the album...that's all I meant by what I was saying.Ed G wrote:That's quite interesting because I thought one of the strengths of the album was that it worked as an album, to be listened to in its entirity. For me, I'll take as much of Geiom's stuff as I can get my hands on!

the album flows track-to-track beautifully
oddly the only song i think feels slightly out of place is the one everyone has been banging on about (pheli nazir - not that it isn't one hell of a tune on its own)
this is the type of album you want on a long train journey. press play and then put the ipod in your pocket, no need to fidget, it keeps you interested and involved the whole way through
pure quality

this is defo very strong contestant for album of the year!!! I would very easily place this at least as high as the burial LP... higher even I would say, but comparison of the two is silly....
musical, deep, inspiring, original... this album is A LOT!!
big up Geiom!! love to be able to buy good music like this!
