safe. yeah, sounds good.
4sure it should b the people releasing that sort the contracts...but in this case thats me.
also really need some kind of an agreement between me (as musician/producer, not a label) and vocalists, musicians etc that have performed on tracks i releasing.
there's nuf people on here putting out stuff by themselves and other artists, often with vocalists on, so either a> they just not bothering with contracts, b> they keeping em to themselves, or c> they dont waste their time lookin on the production forum
anyway, will pm u my mail. thanks

battle gongs contract issues

Yes Synthetics you're right this advice wasn't very helpful was it. As far as I know Battle Gong's thread question is sorted now. He was asking for a contract 'template'. I PM'd him one, he got back to say thankyou, and as far as I know = job done! If only everything could be that simple. Checked out his myspace in the process, he's looking good there. I wish him luck with his venture. I like this forum for links. Big up yourselves!

because even though you may have good intentions (and a posse lol) there are plenty of sharks out there that will be more than happy to screw you over. Also when you have an agreement, even with a mate or fellow producer its all on the table, there is none of the confusion or mis-understandings that are typical of verbal agreements. Remember alot of verbal agreements are made at the PubCRYPTIC wrote:yepunklefesta wrote:westernsynthetics wrote:this is shocking advice...CRYPTIC wrote:Unless its a massive deal, i wouldn't bother, i always deal with verbal contracts!

still need sumthing between producer and vocalists or whatever tho.
a verbal agreement all very well while u r all mates and makin zero money, but in the not-entirely-likely-but-still-possible scenario that the track gets picked up for a film soundtrack or something u need 2 b sure everything is clearly written out.
paying session musicians whove just added a few licks here and there is one thing, but a MC or vocalist thats written lyrics is entitled to a 50percent cut of profits in my opinion.
BUT NOT A PENNY MORE ha ha
thanks for compliments SLVA, the cheque's in the post ha ha
