top Dubstep tracks

Post by kingangelo » Mon Dec 10, 2007 4:37 am

Hey, My names Evangelos, im new to the forum yadda yadda yadda.
I'm a local Dj in Calgary, Canada and dubstep is pretty new idea to me.
It's hard to get into living in a City that struggles to have a local music or Electronic music scene at all...
The things i like so far are maybe not totally classified as dubstep but hit the boarders like Modeselektor and Burka som sistema
anyways point is

if anyone or many of you want to give me some top 5's of either all time, this year, or to spin in a set
i'm going down the local record store to pick some of this up
so your help is well appreciated!

thanks from Canada!

(to all people from London: i went to that record store in Soho when i was in London in Aug...wow you guys are lucky i wish i would have bough some of that place up...........)

well... I don't believe that your local record shop would hold any dubstep in cow town... if they do its probably 6 months old... If your wanting to pick up some fresh new material I suggest buying online... Perfect online store is chemical records... When you do the math its cheaper for you to order it directly to the uk then it is for you to go to the record store and buy it directly from them.

As for top 5 of all time.... well dubstep is evolving on a daily basis. Every day there is a new sound out there, so its really hard to put a top 5 together.
For starters however you want to look at artists like Skream, Loefah, Benga, Coki, N-Type..

eh, Calgary.... duh.. whut?

heh. TORMENT here, also in the land of OIL, $$$, BEEF & oversized pick up trucks! ahoy! Soth Records has bits and pieces in here and there. Haven't checked out Phonics since they re-opened, but sounds as if the mon Lorne B might be getting stuff in. Need to go check it out myself.

As for the "scene", i'd say 2007 was the year things went into deep deep hibernation in Calgary. Raves went bye bye. Small club gigs are still in tho.

boh?
