Isotope Vinyl is pretty good for getting that sampled feel if you haven't got some turntables to hand or want to make a midi part a bit more interesting.

You can get it here.

no one mentions ableton live 7.. No need for anything else apart from mdsp at smartelectronix.com and my waves bcl hardware unit.

is a supurb upgrade from 6 - but still lacks a decent distortion IMO - Camel crusher everytime - erosion is great tho.

i dont have any particular favorite plugins

but i do LOVE a good CHORUS specially on basslines

about fl studio and reason, what the hell makes bit depth the most important
thing in a song? i can find worse shortcomings in FL besides bit depth. but
i still use it.

and where is the need to insult the bread and butter software
of tons of pruducers kicking sick ass beats on this forum that
get radio play and so forth.

i started out in music playing guitar, punk rock,

then getting deep into reggae/ rocksteady, playing bass, drums, beat
boxing

home recording

i've never played bit depth until recently

edit: im not trying to aim this at anyone, just sayin my piece. i only read the first page, and was using the term bit depth as an example.

love all y'all, full respect

Flux plugins(extremely professional sounding eq/comp but very overpriced)
waves API
Waves SSL
Sonalksis comp & eq (my workhorse plugs used on everything)
Wizoo Verb
Audio Damage delay
Logic delay
Kontakt3
Shortcircuit (best software sampler on the planet)
Battery 3
PSP Vintage Warmer 2 (beautiful plug that is always used on my drumbuss)
Voxengo Marquis
Voxengo Gliss eq
Voxengo Elephant
Voxengo Crunchessor (an amazingly effective compressor for drums)
Sony Oxford Plugs (amazing but expensive)

Now all I need to find is a good spectral analyzer that's not a cpu hog
to check that certain frequencies are where they should or shouldn't be.

Also,I never, ever compress on the main outs and am starting to shy away from limiting aswell. The master engineer then has a cleaner, less damaged waveform to process with all his ultra fancy equipment and perfect monitoring environment instead of me giving him something that's compressed & limited beyond any means of redemption.
Life is like a box of chocolates.

It gets stale after a while....

btw- aswell as being on the lookout for a good spectral analyzer,I'm also in need of a good chorus plug in?

Any recommendations?

Elemental Audio's IXL (or Roger Nichols as they are now known)
standard.

What do people think of Reafir? it's a spectral analyser, EQ, Compressor and noise remover all in one. Comes with Reaper, but you can also get it as a freeware VST, I know EQing should be done with your ears, but it's brilliant if you want pinpoint accuracy
