Isnt it funny how back in the day a drumy tracks was considered "Breakstep" n was frowned apon but now it seems to be coming back.
Shame cos back in the day when the the big drum heavy producers did it they seemed to get shunted out to the extent that they dont really produce anymore!

Haha, it's true innit. Maybe the scenes won't be as segregated anymore? With brehs like you guys, ranking, martyn, S&D going on stronger than before. breaky shit should make a welcome return!numaestro wrote:It's called repackagingDJ $hy wrote:Isnt it funny how back in the day a drumy tracks was considered "Breakstep" n was frowned apon but now it seems to be coming back.

Also check out Oyaarss!

Mind blowing beats.....
Generally i think that people are now craving a more rhymically diverse sound after the recent dominance of halfstep...obviously lots of people have been doing their thing for years now....TRG, Shonx, Urban Graffiti, Sully, S & D, Boxcutter, Toasty (the master of breakbeats).... There are numerous others.
I don't know why dubstep exploded whilst breakstep nestled in the underground...possibly a result of Request Line being so massive and no real representation of breakstep on Dubstep warz....As a result breakstep regrouped without the glare of public attention, loads of great music but a lot less releases. Will be interesting to see how it develops as there is a ready made audience for it from the dubstep community and i can see it having cross over appeal with Drumfunk, Jungle, Breakbeat and Electronica fans in the same way Dubstep has crossed over with minimal, techno, house etc...
Here's hoping 2008 is a big year for it!

You mean there is no feelin - the dancegoes dead or it there is no feelin like this and it all goes bang?pete bubonic wrote:There is no feeling in the world when you have been vibing to a techno influenced dubstep set and then the dj drops a breaky track in.
Down here - no meaty systems or expert MC showmen means breaky type energy has always been a winner. May not be so aggressively or flamboyantly futuristic though.
