Give DJs your tunes on CD. If they're good enough the DJs will cut them.

Jason Transition always said to cut wavs, but if you can only cut a 320 you can still do it, but it won't be as good. To the average listener it won't sound different though. I'd recommend cutting through Transition as Jason boosts the levels for you and does a quick master on the track before hand.

I've been getting double sided plates cut for 50.00 USD here in Ohio so although that price does sound good there are people out there who can do it. If you get reference masters cut there is only one company that still produces the blank masters named Apollo, if you peep their catalog you can see that the blanks aren't all that pricey, the lathes are. they simply aren't produced anymore and repairing fundamental cables on them can cost around 600 dollars. so that's why Dubplates themselves tend to be a bit pricey. The longevity on them isn't as bad as some people are making them out to be, I have plates i've played 50 + times and they still sound great (but i have gentle hands)
.wav's are always better as they are 24 bit if your going the MP3 route 320 is always the best to use as it's the best available but even 160's & 192's are ok even though it's @ 16 bit once you get lower than 128 (and even some @ 128) it's not worth the cut.
And remember the bass freq are always better when you cut your wax @ 45 rpm too. =)
