Sorry bruv but i think you will find Technics are the best turntable on the market. I know what you mean about them being expensive, i paid £325 each deck, and thats a little cheap norm like £350 a deck. If i was you i would look on ebay im sure you will find a nice pair of decks for cheap, theres loads of people get them bought for them, try em out realise mixing aint for them or they just cant mix and sell them pretty cheap. I wouldnt get them shipped from the us, coz i cant begin to imagine the cost of the shipping, decks weigh quite alot n 1210s weigh a shitload. Ebay all the way bro just buy a nice 2nd hand pair, or i have 2 old decks i could sell you, they are only kam belt drives but i would give them to you for say £50 the pair, i allso have a Technics mixer i could sell you too, if your interested gimme a pm. But whatever you do buy some decks from somewhere, you will not regret it

why do you want to buy them from the states? just cos they're cheaper?

just buy 2nd hand, technics are as hardwearing as a Land Rover. So long as you give them a good going over to make sure they aren't fucked, you can't really go wrong. I've seen pairs of Mk IIs going for less than £300 in the past.

cheers for the offer mate but ive already got some. Im using gemini TT-02's at the mo the direct drive ones but they jus dont start up quick enough when u let go so its fucks my mixing up. what's that saying..only a bad tradesman blames his tools, or summit along those lines. lol.

I'm going to let out something that has scarred me for life. I put and ad in the paper for technics wanted the week i bought my gemini's, it got to friday and i thought fuck it and bought them whilst online at college. i got home later that day and my mum told me someone had rang about the add. Turns out some guy in his 50-60's had a pair of 1200's with origianl flight cases n needles n stuff n he wanted GET THIS £200 ONO?!?!?!?!?!?!?

the money for my geminis had already gone out so i was screwed and didnt wanna risk waiting to get the money back. i will kick myself for the rest of my life for being an impatient fuck. shit shit shit. cheers anyway thou mate, i think im gunna start a little fund and jus buy sum 1210's wen i can afford it. it looks like if you buy them seperately from ebay it cud work out cheaper.

Fucking gutting story mate

i bought vextax pdx2000 a couple months before any talk of upgrades, and a year before i thought "fuck it i cant scratch anyway". Could have got Technics for another one and been happy right now.

I hear good things about the Nu mark TTX, my housemates got them but aint had a proper go myself. Dunno about better than technics, but the only real downfall ive came across is that most clubs have technics already.

Ye i know what you mean mate bout the tunes not starting fast enough on belt drives, the fuse blew inside my 1210s few months back, while they was out of action i set up my old Kam belt drives. I tell ya they drove me round the bend at first i was like how did i used to be able to mix with these fuckers, then i remembered, the trick with letting off tunes on belt drives is to kinda push the winyl harder when you drop it some tunes u may need to let it off hard then give the vinyl a flick or 2. Thats 1 thing i love about my 1210s is that you can hold the beat and simply let go of the vinyl without even pushing it and it starts fast and smooth. Gutted for you mate about buying the geminis then getting the reply bout the Technics, i wont ask how much you paid for the geminis to save your pain. I duno about them being cheaper if you buy them seperatly, coz i mean you could just as easily come across some1 selling 1 deck then a next bloke selling 2 decks cheaper then if you bought them single from the other bloke. Hope you get your decks sorted soon bruv, dont rush into the first good deal you see, as you may check the next day to find a bettter deal

Im with everyone else on this one - buy second hand. Mine were 12 years old when i bought them from a closing down record shop (RIP Vinyl Frontier) and they still work like they're new. However if u did decide to import them they would work because under the platter is a little switch for choosing between 60Hz/110V (US) and 50Hz/240V (UK). You would of course need a plug adaptor but they're only a couple quid.
