Last night was so sick...

Got there just as Orsons set was finishing. Wish I got there earlier cos his set at big apple xmas party was baaaad.

First time I have seen Blackdown and Dusk, was sick, many indian style vibes comming and was proper different and very nice indeedy!

Next up was Heny and Silkie, boyyyyyyy I have always wanted to hear these guys when my ears were fresh and not torn up by most of the night, and man it was worth it too. Pure vibes.

Mystikz time to tear down the building...absoloutely destroyed it...what else is there to say...
There was this particular 10 or so minutes when everything just went out of sync and mashed up and was just O M fucking G...And I caught it all on video 8)

Distance always smacks it, it was time to put the camera in the pocket for a bit and wild out standing on the sofa in the corner brocking wide and managing not to fall off. SICK - pure acrobatics.

At this point I had to duck out, my butler was waiting outside ready to drive me back home (large up DARKSIDE).

Big up to everyone who said hello and all the new faces!!

P.s. Large up the man dem!

Top top night, I was an utter mess by the end lol

Was good seeing so many familiar faces around, big up tron and guy/grand/kion/boomnoise/sgt. Jokes/shackleton (with the cheap shoes)/appleblim/hijak/benny and Lev Jr. (yes I googled your alias man lol) etc etc... sorry if I missed anyone out, and sorry if I was ranting in peoples ears like a bumhole.

Musically was great from beginning to end. Orson was playing some deep sub tunes, I was sat at the back next to the speaker wobbling. Blackdown and Dusk were heavy, though it was a bit of shame the system wasn't as loud as it was later for them- still, some proper deepness and some garagey bits getting people moving big up! (I refuse to believe this broken home version even exists tho...)

Anti Social were SICK! Killed it mixing and selection wise, very much appreciating the garagey/ravey influence they're bringing into the music, thought they absolutely smashed it! Large up Heny and co

Mystikz probably set of the night for me, was much more cohesive to my ears than the last time I saw them, was pretty fucking deep most of the way through and the bangers (ie coki MADNESS!) were well placed. Standing on the stage watching people react to spongebob was bugged... Oh and Mala was dropping tunes of his I haven't heard before that were just fucking RIDICULOUS. Pokes was on big form for this set and for every other set he was on- can't forget how important he is for bringing the vibes :Q:

Distance was just dropping dirt dirt dirt... Make Me in particular stood out, proper immersive tune. Meanwhile Benga was dropping fucked fucked fucked lol- first two tunes (i.e. the ones i can remember) were just nuts. N-Type smashed it as well though I was off my face by this point, the jungle at the end was sick made me wish there was a whole jungle set, I could have kept going even at the end.Valley of the Shadows what can you say?

All in all fucking marvellous, music and vibe wise. Big up DMZ crew

First DMZ (have missed every one since i got into the sound in mid 2006, so it was a long time coming)

Highlight was Digital Mystikz, or Blackdown and Dusk, can't decide, spoke to Blackdown for a sec as he was leaving, really nice guy, and their set was next-level.

I liked the other sets (N-type's jungle rinseout at the end was a nice touch, and i've never seen anyone with gunfingers that enthusiastic) but the relentless halfstep did get to me, having seen people like Kode9, Scientist etc play more of a mix.

Out to the guy from birmingham who i spoke to briefly, you got a bit pissed and fell asleep in the stairwell, was a bit concerned but saw you skanking to N-Type later, so all good :D

Oh yeah and Distance... jesus christ

Sounds like it was really good night. So many diverse producers on show. I guess no Burial, Kode9 or Shackleton beats got played. I think MALA is the nearest thing to them.

What about Benga's set? Any new bits?

We dropped some Burial - if the Forum demands it, you cant let the massive down! We played "U Hurt Me (original mix)." Full tracklist of our set is here.

Out to everyone who has as much fun on the night as we did. :)

What an incredible way to start the new year. This DMZ reminded me of the one in May 2006, another of purely good vibes. It's heart warming to see all the DJs and producers out there at the same event (see Grand's list). It's a family affair.

Out to Heny G and Silkie, Anti Social family, for playing enthusiastic forward thinking dance music. A joy to watch. Grand, the heart and soul of the international bass movement, 007 handshake business. Crazy Dizzle, good to finally meet you, your chizzle. Pinch, Kromestar (each and every), Jay5, Cessman, Skream, Hijak, Bug, Cluekid, Chef, Benga, Distance, Plastician, Harry Craze, Citizen (+girl), and all the others. You have something invaluable going on in Brixton.

Finally respect and thanks to Mala, Coki and Poax for their hospitality. See you at the Melkweg in February.
