Benny Page
Yeah perhaps but if you think about it dubstep has the potential to resemble jungle more closely than modern DNB does
I often wonder if a lot of these once-great producers in DNB are operating in a sort of straitjacket creatively... lets face it if you brought out a 150odd bpm jungle tune nowadays you'd sell comparatively little and it wouldn't be going down well at your average night. Whereas with dubstep there's more room to do whatever you want... at least at the moment.

Totally agree with ye Corpsey. Photek's new stuff really isn't as good as his older stuff. Can you imagine that guy doing dubstep (Creams!!!)
I don't think Dubstep will ever get me off DnB as there is still life in the genre if you look beyond (gasp!) the god-awful Jump-Up craze which is happening at the moment. Stuff like Break, Equinox, Breakage, and anything on Darkestral are where its still going forward. Seems like most of styles of DnB have found they're groove and aren't interested in progressing they're style any further.... FOOOLS!!!

Prolly due to happen, T-Power's now playing his fair share of dubstep so I would figure his influence would rub off nice on Shy.Corpsey wrote:Surely can't be too long until Shy does something ... would be interesting anyway

stop jumping to conclusions sunny! there are a few producers that cussed dubstep hard at the beggining. they know who they are! but just cos a producer from another genre starts making dubstep tunes it doesnt mean he's jumping on any band wagons. its the same as if you were making drum and bass tunes then one thought"fuck i'll have a stab at something else" your not jumping on a band wagon your spreading your wings bruv! the difference here being their signed and got a bit of fame so people expect them to do the same thing. but the contradiction there is that if they keep doing the same thing like you may be suggesting they do they'll get cussed for "doing the same old shit"dubluke wrote:another DnB producer jumping on the wagon, having probably spent a few years cussing dubstep before that, great

There's always been a healthy level of experimentation from the more open minded D&B camp.
If you're doubting the credibility or contribution from the D&B boys experiments, check any recent Youngsta set, and you'll hear Breakage, SP:MC and Benny Page all back to back with Mala, Coki and Benga.
They're making some deep stuff.
Heard Benny Page's "Step Out" on, I think, an N-Type set and then a few dnb mixes (that Bailey experimental, a B-Traits DNBArena mix). I like it, the bassline reminds me of old Mampi Swift tunes for some reason.
Heard the D-Kay tune on the last Youngsta set I snagged, and pretty sure I heard a Breakage tune on the mix too. D-Kay had a 170+ BPM tune called "Spider" on the Critical album, a lot of people were saying it was dubstep influenced.

well i'll be. very keen to check that bizzle.BreakBait wrote:Anyone heard any of the D Kay dubstep. I'm pretty sure it's D Kay unless I'm hearin wrong.
