How so? Niche is a sort of garage surely? Mind you they used to say that about dubstep
yeah a sort of garage for sure- just a bit tired of all the london 'it's just speed garage again'...which is basically shorthand for 'what do you mean the north has its own ting goin on, only london can invent genres....'. etc
Fair enough, do get a bit pissed off with Londoncentric stuff like that myself.

How you doing anyway Rachel, haven't seen you posting up here in a while?

Good tunes = bottom line!
Totally agree, sticking with one thing too long does get a bit boring. Plenty of old tunes that fit nice at that tempo.
Hmm....

I'm sure there will be a forum for you as well, in like 2010 / 2011.
LOL

The problem is that 99% of the new bassline stuff is absolutely awful. Heartbroken sounds like a very, very poor garage tune from 2000. RIP Groove on the other hand is a class tune.
Agree with you there, it's just a poor version of speed garage.

it is if you check the wrong tunes. dig deeper and there's some quality, quality tunes and some great production. judging any relatively underground genre on one tune that charted will always be misleading. and anyone goin on like 'it's for the young ppl, bassline' route runs a serious risk of a) sounding lke a granddad (and a patronising one at that) and/or b) inferring that dubstep is somehow 'intelligent' over and above other genres (also patronising and, when recalling how dnb went, with obvious dangers).

anyway, f it, i like it...

There are a few decent bassline/niche (whatever you wanna call it) tunes from around 2002-2005 but I just find the current productions poor.

I'm feeling it in small doses. When produced right, it can sound phat. However, those 'Fisher Price' basslines are pure stchooopidnesss!

Saying that, I don't like to restrict myself to only a certain musical vibe.

Allow having a little dig at it being northern, knobhead, how does that effect anything?

its all in the 140bpm range and its ALL a 4/4 "house" beat which makes it versatile for many genres of djs and djs of many genres.
Bodybass, Bassline Niche, 4/4 Step, House on Stereoroids... i love it all if it aint mainstream.
just dont start callin it progressive prayer if that happens then im thru! :P
