Orbital

Post by contakt » Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:44 pm

I'm listening to my old Orbital albums again at the moment.

Bloody hell, these guys were amazing. I was obsessive about them at the time. I still think The Box EP is one of my favourite releases ever.

Anyone else fans? What is your favourite album? What did you think of The Blue Album?

Yep massive Orbital fan.

They have made some timeless classics. Have seen them live many times. Saw their last live show at brixton before they split.

All about the brown album for me but snivilisation was also pretty good (i got my copy signed by the hartnolls).

Would love it if they got back together for some live stuff in the future

Yes - Orbital live were absolutely next level. The first time I saw them was the BEST gig I have ever been to.

Best album for me is probably In Sides - although love Snivelisation and the Brown Album too. I am jealous of your signed copy.

All about The Box remixes though.

I just listened to The Blue Album again - not as bad as i remember it. I just guess they had lost interest by that point though - nothing new or particularly interesting on that one.

I am absolutely convinced that they will get back together for a tour at some point in the next five years. I think they split because they just needed to do something new rather than because they hated Orbital and each other. They clearly loved playing live.

InSides is the best one for me...

Check the Long Range album one of the brothers (i forget which) has been involved with. Can clearly hear the Orbital influence in some of hte tracks. Saw them live at Glade this year and they were wicked. No orbital obviously but still good and worth checking
'The Drum Dojo' live on Oxford's FM 107.9 (www.fm1079.com) Fridays 1-3am: dnb, dubstep and breaks.

i think i've still got that some where, was all about the track with the creaky floorboards and the harpsicord!

I get goosebumps just thinking about the harpsichord drop. The first time you hear it, you just go 'what the fuck!?'. Genius.

In Sides was my favourite. Soundtrack to bunking off school, and
smoking horrendous amounts of weed. Ah, those were the days!

they are great live

as far as best album...
Brown Album (orbital 2)...

..so good

had a soft spot for Snivilisation
and really rated Middle of nowhere (only because it reminded me of the live shows I saw them at)

..however; I thought the Altogether was poor.

They will be sadly missed, although Long Range have impressed me from what I've heard.

I have to agree on The Box matter, trully one of their best works. But also "Belfast" that's the track that got me in love with orbital. The first song I heard from them was "Bigpipe Style" and that's also a gem. As for the fav album... The Middle Of Nowhere. I mean just listen to Nothing Left 2 or Otono... great music with the typical Orbital twisted female vocals. Beelzebeat is a smasher also as well as Initiation... the saga continues. And Paul Hartnoll's album is quite good as well!
Don't choose your music, let it choose you!
