dont c the point of uk hip hop since grime came about. it was worth supporting in the 90s cos without it grime would probably never have happened.

but y bother now?

if u want hip hop listen to the US original, or if u want british mcing then grime

tho i doubt this'll go down all that well in a uk hip hop thread
u really r a braindead prick, grow up.

I'm feeling them, just about to buy it actualy for thanks for the reminder.

Theres less and less UK stuff i can bare each month with me, It would really bother me if there was any kind of scene anymore. But there seems to be nothing going on anyware.
yeh deffo get your hands on that, probably one my fave albums from 2007. it totally blew me away the first time I heard it.

I checked them out after reading a feature in HHC, it's just a pity that not everyone featured in HHC is as good...

been very curious on why uk hiphop and grime is defined to be to different things . . .
and the 90 bpm vs 70/140 isn´t enough . . .
back in the days tunes was made on all tempos . . .

is it mostly to do with where they come from or a wish to not be a part of the big hiphop hype . . . ?!!

and what happened to bushkilla ?!! fucking quality mcing!

After i heard the foreign beggars and vex´d tune [bollocks]
i remembered how much i enjoy quality flowing over a fresh beat . . .
Hoow much that adds to the beat!
and to my ear, most grime mcs have to similar mc styles to make it work through a whole track . . .

if u listen to boy better know, fire camp, roll deep etc, u will notice that their "freestyling" is just repeating the same stuff again and again, u cant make a whole track with just a few lyrics!

imo UKHH has loads more content compared to Grime, not just chattin about slewing and brapping and bigging up their endz, but each to his own...

The thing is, Wiley repeating a word again and again is more exciting and interesting than Jehst talking about how he'd like to slide up a rainbow into some clouds and swap metaphors with Zues above a multi storey carpark in the 'concrete dungeon' to me. Anyway, was Hip-Hop shit in the mid to late 80s when the flows were all A-B-C-D-E-F-G I am a dope MC? No, because the beats were live and the styles were exciting. The most boring hip-hop is the stuff with a rinsed out looped dusty jazz sample and some failed author with a monotone voice doing 40,000 syllables about how other MCs are rubbish, hip-hop is dead and he is 'sick like AIDS'.

Don't get me wrong some UKHH is good though.

Mate, you just summed it all up.

Same way i feel.

I remember going to axefm once (online radio station) and there was some guy there who decided to chat this line
"my dicks been in more pussies then tampons"
then his whole crew went crazy.

I didnt.

Why would you want to say that?!?!?!?!

I agree kinda but most people don't practice what they preach. At least its more interesting than what a lot of mainstream US is about. I need to listen to some hip hop.

The scene always seemed small to me though, uk hip hop gigs were never in massive attendance in Leeds unlike London which is probably why there isn't a lot of diversity.

Braintax is retiring, sounds pissed off now

http://rapnews.co.uk/?p=1176

Jehst almost has the same attitude, more positivity but he obviously thinks there are huge problems with the business.

UKHH hasn't the same radio presence and probably hasn't coped as well as Grime did with the new technology.

^^^^ They are all talented lyricists with tight productions but the only one on your list doing anything interesting and original is Ghetto. A Grime artist, rendering your whole post null and void.

Other way round. He started off as Supa T and later changed to Sundragon.

I only ever heard a couple of his tracks but I rated his lyrics.
That one track he had on Underworld Epics was one of my favourites on the whole LP...with that line "'God gave us guns' that's like 'God gave us drugs', nah God gave us us...And a whole heap of devils to blame when we fuck up"- really sick track tht. I'm gonna have to go dig that out now.
