SeOne. London Bridge.

Yer fair play. . . . . Think Iration have played some dubstep in the past though

Never been to a uni of dub myself, but i can't imagine that kind of ting would be as good with the smoking ban....

RE "can't justify the expense without it" remember this night is now in its 12th year IE long before dubstep.

I went to my 1st UOD about 10 years ago and love it.

Was also gutted it had to leave the Brixton venue. Feb 1st will be my first one in the new venue (SE One in London Bridge), majorly looking forward. Been out the country, can't wait for a bit of Aba and Iration + Shiloh who I've not seen in years.

If you can't afford it you can't afford it, and it's not for everyone but I strongly recommend you give it a try at least once, even just for the experience. Its 'required for the course' bizness in my book... and I actually have a book!

Went down to the first one at Se One and it was no where near as good as it used to be at the rec - partly because i think that the floor in the rec was sprung, so the bass feels a bit smaller, even though it's not. It's just damn hard to vibrate a railway arch.
I can't say what it'll be like this time, but it wasn't so much of a smoking ban as a cameras ban when i was there. No evidence you see :) Saw plenty of people having their cameras taken off them and blanked. you've been warned.
I doubt Iration will play any dubstep, but all that steppas stuff they play sounds like Rusko. It's well worth it if you haven;t been. The only other negative was that £3.50 bought you 250ml of beer. And yes that does mean it was £7 per pint.
I'm going. [it's ma birthday...]

I've postponed my flight back home to go there. I know couple of people that fly all the way from Poland, just for the night. I missed Iration in Helsinki, spending some quality time in London at the time, so it seems like a good idea to hear them play with their own soundsystem (heard that system in H-ki wouldn't handle their heaviest tunes)

Couldn't find any info about the tickets, so I'm guessing you just get them while you're there?

Does anyone know what University if Dub have done recently to piss some people off? There was some chat on the speakerplans forum about people boycotting them, and I've got no idea what the beef is. Is it just the change of venue or what?

Great night!
Wasn't sure about how SE1 would be compared to Brixton, but it was fine, sound was good, was more packed than i've ever seen it i think, quite a different crowd compared to brixton too but was all good vibes. Seemed to have attracted quite a few first timers - love seeing people walk in to the main room thinking the bass has already dropped then seeing their faces when the proper subs drop haha! Iration were dropping some 4x4 badness that reminded me of anti war dub

One question i hope someone can PLEASE answer:

What was the tune Abashanti-i played at around midnight, was probably more reggae-ish than dub, the chorus went "freedom, freedom freeedoooom" he wheeled it up and played it fully to the end - it was about 6/7 mins long with a sick trombone solo at the end.

I NEED THAT TUNE!!

(Hi) Don't know but remember looking at my watch after his stint around midnight so I could be all "oi aba smacked it at midnight-ish!!" That was classic aba business, getting the crowd bubbling HARD to lyrics and melody, head down business without much in the way of bass weight, smiles all round etc

If you ever find out what that tune was, let me know!!

And yeah its wicked seeing people experience the bass for the first time, love it!

I enjoyed friday much more than the first time at SE1 in sept. i think finding the secret bass trap / smoking tunnel behind the soundsystems improved it for me
Still, i think it was better at the Rec. The crowd is much whiter at SE1. But if it is going to stay at SE1 i hope the regulars amongst the jamaican community do come back.
