Dubting Dubting003: Quantum Soul: Waiting on Dub/Opn Skies
The A Side is kicked off in fine style with “Waiting on Dub”. Starting with some classic organ stabs that evolve via the aid of some tasty delay and wah wah, skippy shakers and kicks launch into the drop with consummate skill.
Twisted basses writhe around the track like a greased up boa constrictor, underpinning a funky beat even Bernard perdy would be proud of!
Airy flutes round off this dubbed out smasher, get skanking!
Side AA comes with a darker flavour. Open skies forgoes the lighter feeling of the A side and goes into much deeper territory. Spooky orchestral samples open proceedings with some delayed up drum hits for added effect. Indian vocal chops and flutes ease us to the drop which hits with a sub that’s 20,000 fathoms deep. This one just keeps on rolling nicely until the break, which then treats us to a deep, growling bass that shows quantum soul means business.
