Yep, I reckon it's mostly an ergonomics issue. The dubplate.net forum was so horrible to use. I also think that since the site went down, a lot of people, both forum posters and lurkers, were looking for a new online home. This forum came along and everyone's jumped on it.

Nah, it's cos I'm on it, innit

I read dubplate.net but never signed up to it. Quite happy just surfing and reading. Then dubway opened his forum and linked it fom his blog. Guess it's just die to the growing popularity of dubstep.

Ha, yeah, always worth a read!

Tons of anon post from angry nutters in ALLCAPS with millions of exclamation marks but no other punctuation, usually along the lines of
"IM SHAGIN UR MUMM,
I GOT BARE GUNZ,
YOUFINK YOUR FIT BUT YOU GOT NO BUM"
etc.

As for this forum, I think its kind of snowballed in a way that dubplate never did. Once people start posting more regularly, people will check it more regularly and so on.
Never thought dubplate was too unfriendly, just a bit of a pain to use, and a bit dead sometimes

I agree with gravious. Dubplate was brass and I didn't post because there was nothing to reply too. Now the scene's getting bigger and everybody has jumped on the forum wagon for some communal support. I mean, whoever the fuck heard of me?

And its not as if im new to the scene, but dubplate was a long one.

Never been one for internet forums, but dubsteppers are growing in numbers or at least, people have an incentive to post now that theres more going on and more information to be given out.

This is the dubstep information headquarters rude boy!

and as for the term 'hipster'...actually dont get me started. and sorry...students? interesting?? whats happenin here. lets not seperate people from people. the one great thing about dubstep is that people come forward because it is a genuine, original sound that is undeniably communal.

i'm not entirely sure i understand what you mean by this. what i said upthread was meant by no means disparagingly.

and i have noticed a fad aspect in some of the people i know / talk to at FWD and others who are starting to dig the sound. i'm not saying they shouldn't just that it's contributing to its growth.
