What stops a DJ from ripping vinyl ???
Sounds like you're beefing up shit for no reason. People that I speak with like the way grime dubstep, the whole scene is going.
If a tunes big and good then it'll surely come out on CD. Rinsessions for example, big compilation with the top tracks out.
If someone really wants a tune they can get the vinyl or try to contact the producer to get an MP3.
I don't understand your point about it doesn't matter if the producer gets money or not.. maybe I read it wrong but thats what I understand.

if we weren't so isolated in NZ it probably wouldn't matter but we pay more and have to wait longer for tunes and even then they might be all out...

you know, you'd do much better for your arguments if you'd turn off the "i'm from new zealand/small island" victimization grief. i don't hear people from OZ starting loads of crap about the dubstep scene. you have good points man, but you bury most of them in this "hell dept against the world" rhetoric. it's not like everyone's out to stop your music from being heard.
i watched pendulum blow up on doa over the course of the last three years. they did it very gradually. every month you'd hear another tune or another sick mix...people started to take notice, lot's of positive feedback. they went from relative obscurity in australia to number 14 in the uk national dance charts in less than 2 years! they themselves have admitted that they owe most of their initial exposure to doa and aim. they didn't try and reinvent the wheel. they didn't try the grumpy revolutionary route either.

If you go on Rinse forum you will see a guy named Megatron. He's from San Francisco and imports all the big vinyl and he has started an ever growin grime scene. He's got a radio set and does raves. He said that he dropped a few grime tunes and people didn't want to go back to hearing DnB. Basically my point, it doesn't matter where you're from cos you can always get stuff done.
I see what you mean about having an MP3 hosting site where the producers get the money. I guess it could be possible and those who wish to do it will do it but let that happen in time and don't force stuff.

bland, nothing music devoid of a conscious element, subject to stealing and trading dubplates from producers cos the feeding of the natives isn't happening fast enough...

Paul & Farj from Moving Ninja in Oz seem to have linked with all the UK producers - their www.garagepressure.com always had upfront MP3s to listen to, so it's not like prodcers from the UK / other countries are refusing to share music just cos you're not nuts-deep in the scene.
I honestly think if you climbed down off you soapbox and quit telling people how you think the scene should run - maybe try going with the flow for a while instead of trying to change the whole direction - you'd have a more positive reaction from people.

100% agree. Mans shooting himself in the foot if u ask me. If ur feelin the music no-one cares where ya from. Look at Dubway (Croatia), Even (Denmark), Joe Nice (Baltimore, USA) for more examples of peeps far from London/UK who are all safe and deep into the music, and pushing the sound in their respective areas.

						I agree that it is harder to get into this scene when u cant meet other DJ's / producers face to face ... BUT we are now in the internet age, I pass people tunes thru MSN or AIM these days, so it really dont matter where you are .. and if u want examples of producers outside London look at L-Wiz (Sweden), Moving Ninja (Oz), Boxcutter (Northern Ireland).
No-one is refusing to share music. All it takes is getting in touch with producers/labels you're feeling, earn their TRUST and dont come with some badman attitude because that will turn people off immediately. If u call that 'eating ass' then good luck to ya.
