BM SOHO PRESENT: THE BASEMENT

For well over 15 years BM Soho has been providing London's Jungleist and Dubsteppin massive with its wax. Run by DJs for DJs, the shop has become something of an institution, and is arguably one of the world’s best known record stores. With people like Ray Keith, Youngsta, Miss Pink and co-owner Nicky Blackmarket on the team, hand picking records and serving behind the counter, it’s not hard to see why BM (formerly Black Market Records) has gained such a massive international reputation.

Fresh for 2008, we are proud to announce the launch of a new night showcasing the finest Drum 'n' Bass and Dubstep sounds from our downstairs floor - or as we like to call it, 'The Basement'. Featuring the BM kru as residents as well as special friends of the shop, this ensures we have a line up most promoters would simply kill for.

Starting with a bang, the first night introduces South London’s very own Inta selector, DJ Bailey. Representing Metalheadz and 1xtra, Bailey is one of the scene's true soldiers and therefore fits the BM ethos perfectly. He will be drawing from across the board, and serving up a diverse and deep selection.

Deep Medi & DMZ head Honcho Mala will be flying the 140 bpm flag for the Dubsteppers. At home playing Francois K's Deep Space night in NYC as he is in Brixton's Mass, expect meditation business from one of the scene's finest and most acclaimed artists.

Joining them behind the decks will be our very own Nicky 'Legend' Blackmarket, reaching way back to where it all began with an old skool jungle set. BM's queen of the beats, Miss Pink, will be rolling out the Drum n' Bass pressure, and our newest recruit, Sigha, will be drawing his typically intelligent Dubstep selection.

Thursday, 6th March 2008 @ East Village
10pm – 3am
£5 before 11pm, £7 after

I was told that it's going to reasonably large, I may pop along to catch Mr M as tis rather close to home. I'm not sure about all this drums and bass though.

Yeah, used to be the Medicine bar.
They've turned the place over completely (spent over 300K). The downstairs floor is well dark, loud and crisp. They have installed an Eskimo Noise soundsystem - bass heaven!
