hahaha, reminds me of kaboom not so long ago trying to change a record and being so pissed falls on to the table and knocks everything off so the rest of the DJ's gave him a good hiding while he was down. Kiwi DJ's are so unforgiving.

don’t know if you guys know anything about Toronto's dnb scene but back in the day there used to be a club called Turbo.
It had a weekly dnb thing there that drew apx 400+ people each night with a headliner on tour there pretty much every night it was open.

Anyways, I was 17.. Bedroom dj and my mixes were starting to attract a bit of attention.
The promoters of Turbo asked me to play the slot right after usual suspects.
Being 17 I thought this was the best thing in the entire freaking world.. (my big break as a superstar dnb dj  )

The night of the jam I found a couple grams of magic mushrooms in my bedroom and me and a friend thought it would be a good idea to eat them before we went to the club.

Long story short, I tripped the fuck out.. Looked at the crowd of 400+ and got nervous as hell and bailed.

The next day I told the promoter the truth; he laughed, roasted me for a bit but forgave and booked me for the following week.

I spin funk & soul music & its all in 7'' format...
So one Time I'm spinning at the Blue note London (now defunct) & i have all my records in a box balanced on the Decks flight case, which seemed to be o.k... Untill some bloke about 25 stone try's to squeeze past the flight case & knocks it for six...
My records spill out, right across a packed dancefloor & the arm of the turntable drags across the record (signal for the crowd to spin around) The whole case smashes onto floor..
the records spill all over the deck & I'm left standing with my cans on me head, a face of horror & about 20 mashed records being stepped on.
The crowd look at me Like WTF & fat bloke is totally oblivious to what he has done..
I was angry embarrased gutted & wanted the ground to open up & consume me....
I lost about £200 worth of classic funk vinyl.... :?

I play a slot between 3 and 5am at Arcane in Newcastle and Im usually just on the right side of mortal to play but one time I got toooo drunk. Me and my mate Cragz were playing after moving fusion i got behind the decks staggering about with my head phones on tripped over the floor monitor and took out sparfunk ... Cragz was mortal as well which meant the set itself was an embarrassment, we were both clattering beats left right and centre, drinking vodka straight from the bottle and fell over a few more times  ... for weeks after people were comming up to me and telling me I was a disgrace but that they enjoyed the set for the comedy value of two mortal blokes stumbling about trying to DJ

Worst I've ever done is trainwreck a mix pretty bad... I don't do that a lot anymore... hardly ever, honestly.

Not only did exactly the same thing happen to me but I should point out that Blue Note is not defunct, the memory of that club, especially the Wall of Sound nights will live on in our memories forever! I had lunch there recently after boycotting the place for years and it was a mad rush of memories. Thanks for reminding me!

Embarassing DJ stories? Shit man, too many to even start! Needing a pee and putting on a longplayer, running to the loo and coming back to find the record stuck and the whole place slow handclapping me out of the loos.

Having a snifter under cover of the smoke machine only for a bouncer to turn up out of the smog and point out that I had put my record box down on the button that controlled the smoke machine so it had been on non stop for 20 minutes and they had had to shut the club and open all the fire exits...I was so mashed I hadn't even realised...

I could go on :)

Classic!

Once i was spinning DNB i pushed the channel fader so hard upwards, that the plastic knob flew into the crowd because i was so excited about everything. Was quite funny to mix just with a thin metal stick looking out of the mixer...

Got shitfaced and decided to scratch for the first time... When I heard how it turned out I laughed so bad I just fell to the ground and couldn't get up. A friend had to push me up and hold me for the rest of my so called set... Again...

Many many years ago though. I don't drink and play at the same time anymore
