RIP Independent Pressing Nottingham

Post by geiom » Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:19 am

Went last week to pick up our metalwork -

it was pretty much the best press in the UK - heavyweight vinyl, crisp sound...most of the classic dubstep labels always on their work list....

but it is closed now and all the equipment is being sold -

this is what happens when people stop buying records i guess -

big up Jonathon and crew -

I did read i pretty interesting article in the times a while back about the old EMI pressing plant in west london. They've had to re-open it as there has been a massive upsurge in demand for vinyl from the rock and pop scene.

Is a shame about this, was a very good pressing plant. Just wonder how long they'd know about this or if it was a spur of the moment thing..
reason being the massive delay on RTP among others..

sucks. the pressing house here in the states that many labels were using went belly up a few years ago too. worst thing there is that some schmuck at the press decided to take all the metal plates and sell them for scrap, so many labels' releases were postponed while they paid another pressing house AGAIN for their plates. :/

sadly, one of my techno releases was supposed to get a repress. not gonna happen because the plates are gone and melted. :(

its a sad loss but from what ive herd they were hit hard by goya distribution closing last year and they used to put a lot business independants way there are many other factors aswell but i dont want to get in to those.

Real shame, hey had top quality vinyl there, thick, hard wearing and crisp clean sound. I would like to have known how long they knew about this also as Pieces and Clouds VOL.1 where to be pressed there.

Where is everyone going now?
