shooting galleries

Post by jera » Thu May 25, 2006 9:10 am

what do you lot think to the proposed shooting galleries where heroin users can go and shoot up with clean needles and be supervised?

personally, i think its a good idea......i won't go in to my life story but some one very close to me is/was a heroin user n ive seen how thats destroyed their lives so i think providing a place where they can get clean needles is great. also saves them from doing it on the street...its bloody annoying having to avoid needles!!!

what you lot think??

It would be great!!!!!

It sucks trying to hide in an alley an cook up a shot, while the whole time you have to be constantly looking out for the man!!!!!

We have a needle exchange in various parts of the city here , 7 days a week!!!!!
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em

mehhh...i dont think so.
i think some drugs should be legal.
but i dont think we should have to shell out tax money, so somone can monitor a junkies safety, they pretty much got it down.

whats the point really, they already shoot up...sounds kind of silly to me.

I think it's an excellent idea. It's a chance to get in contact with and provide help (health care, rehab programs, etc.) to these people, which is otherwise very hard. You may even get one or two to give it up. That will decrease the overall misery and most likely cut costs for society in the long run.

Fully behind this. Living near King's Cross for a period of time has taught me this is a very good thing. I don't particularly want to see a junky's cock with a needle hanging out of it ever again.

The shooting gallery concept is one of the most progressive drugs related policies in recent times.

I personally think it's a good idea, but I fear that when this happens most of the attention and efforts towards heroin users will be focussed on the people who use these places and the junk who does not use these facilities will be forgotten...

but the idea is that people won't have to spend more. these places are a very good way to get in contact with and be able to help the heavier drug addicts, especially younger ones who are not yet beoynd hope. most will keep doing drugs, but if you can help only a few, that's still a huge saving for society.

In my experiance, there is an exchange near my work, the exchange idea is a bad / harmfull halfway measure, Im fairly sure they aint operating it along a dirty for clean policy, der just handing out sharps which end up in the nature strips n parks.

Galleries that keep all the shit on site, and provide a sanitary & secure place for people t do wot they gotta do are good. They save the tax payer money as they minimize harm and help junkies learn the basic sanitation needed to be a "succesfull" addict, & as DAF said, they provide some form of support network, as well as gettin it off the street, boomnoise that is some fucked up shit bro, & the general public dont need t see that, imagine if a kid saw that ? :x

Marsyas; you keep lookin down your nose at everyone like that & you'll go cross eyed bro

n i dont appreciate people looking down on another human being simply because of stupid choices they made. We don't all get dealt the cards we'd like in life.
Heroin addiction is a painful experience not only for the addict but also to the people close to them....i should know.

thats all i gotta say cuz im getitn vexd n dont want to get into a gay arse internet arguement.

my old flat had an alleyway leadin up to the door and there was a courtyard and the junkies used to lie in rubbish, shit, urine rotting food from the take aways etc

when the council came to clear up the mess there were 26 needles from a 6 month period, id be happy to have one round here

because its a choice they made.
i feel sorry it got out of hand, but its not my fault.

i guess i would feel differently if there was some kind of mask over heroin.
but there isnt, it is well know that its highly addictible.that if u try it, you have a very good chance of being addicted.
in saying that, why would anyone want to try it?

i would rather worry about people who do not choose to fuk their own lives up, people with various forms of cancer, or mental issues.things that they are born with or have had no choice in the matter.

junkies had a choice, and they decided to ignore the facts.

so u know every heroin users life stories do you??
i aint defending every heroin user...because as u said it is their choice. But when your living in an enviroment that some of these people do heroin can be a release.
it is also well documented that smoking weed causes mental problems...but many people choose to ignore that(including me).

would you rather these people have a place to go rather than doing it on the streets?.....ive stood on a needle due to this when i was younger....believe me not a nice experience.
