I'm all for sharing knowledge, but there's some lazy-ass people out there. what would you have done before the glorious age of the dubstepforum? heaven forbid experiementation and research are part of the creative process.

in short:

google.

bookstore? i believe there's, like, 300 books on reason, from v1 on up to now.

online production forums? even just the 'search' buttons on online forums?

otherwise, after seeing so many posts of people looking for samples (dubstep bass samples,even... it's like looking for lead vocal samples for an r&b track), asking how do you write X or Y, where do my drums go....

either you actually want to find this shit out and will obsess about it (see any loefah/mala/burial interview over the last few years to read up on the obsession behind amazing tunes), or you essentially just want a dubstep cake mix... add water and eggs, bake for 35 minutes, enjoy.

mmm dubstep cake.

if you want help with reason go to the reason forums at reasonfreaks.com

but first read the help section. and secondly go buy a book.

in all seriousness, first hand here the help section is great. stopped being lazy myself and read the entire part on the malstrom and now i have my head wrapped around it quite well.

there are different elements of reason that can be patched at pleasure using the cables in Reason.

The first set of stuff is cv (control voltage {or something}). This is the small thin yellow cable. Try creating a malstrom, the adding a ecf filter unit thingy, flipping the reason rack around, and dragging a cv cabe from the "Mod A" output on the malstrom to the filter cutoff input on the ecf filter unit. The sound should auto wah now cuz the "Mod A" shape is controlling the filter cutoff on the filter unit.

The other type of cable in reason is the type that essentially carries audio. So if you create a synth, then add an effect as a insert, reason will automatically reroute the cables from the synth output into the fx unit input.

Crazy shit starts happening if you reroute the synths output into the Audio Splitter & Merger, then route some of the signal into fx units, some of it to the filter inputs on the malstrom and keep some of it dry. Use a line mixer as a summing device.

I love reason.. :) I definately spend more time creating combinator patches than making tunes.... sad really

lolz

Me to. I find it quite embarrassing when people write in an idiotic way to try and look cool. Obviously show how lazy 'troopa' is and doesn't really warrant the time explaning how x & y is done. After all, he won't use the knowledge, because, he's to lazy! :?

The UK school system is pretty poor now days, but they do still teach English. I might be confused where he has written ukaaaaaaaaaa by it not meaning the UK.

If 'being real' means writing as you do Troopa, then we're all in trouble.

I think the general consensus on here of people that persist in writing their threads/topics in 'text speak' or 'street language' is one of laziness.

We all know the basics of grammar as we're taught them at a very young age, so dropping out of school later in life should in no way detract from the way you communicate with people on here.

A little thought about what you're writing will encourage others to respond, therefore all helping each other out with advice and encouragement.

1: I aint holy. Fuck religion.

2: I aint being negative towards individuality. My point was if people come on here asking for help but are too lazy to type correctly, then why should people bother to help them when they cant understand them?

Clear concise grammar + questions about wobble bass = everyone happy.

Bad street grammar + questions about wobble bass = everyone right fucked off.

People probably need to realise 'TROOPA' is taking the piss and so stop trying to explain things to him. At least I hope he is.
