How old is dubstep?
How old is dubstep?
I mean this new wave of dubstep im hearing...I am new to this, never really been into Drum and Bass at all, I have always listened to Hip-Hop, then moved to grime because I prefer Uk music plus i live here, and from grime got introduced to Dubstep through plastician...damn if I knew this music form existed I would've been here a lot quicker, just never even heard of it till now...

Oh mate got to call you out on that one, the true pioneers of detroit never made repetative music.jhemstone wrote:yeah i know, its just seems quite new to me, when i first heard it i was like wow, because it doesn't have the repetitive structure of techno music, it is more interesting to listen to imo, and the basslines are more massive than anything else

If it's the new wave stuff then really 2004/5 or so when it got on the halfstep tip (might be wrong on this, so correct me if I am). Most of what came before barely relates to what goes on now.jhemstone wrote:I mean this new wave of dubstep im hearing...I am new to this, never really been into Drum and Bass at all, I have always listened to Hip-Hop, then moved to grime because I prefer Uk music plus i live here, and from grime got introduced to Dubstep through plastician...damn if I knew this music form existed I would've been here a lot quicker, just never even heard of it till now...

The idea of New Wave dubstep fills me with joy, Devo mashups FTW
I think you'd have be quite selective in your listening to take that point of view, sure there's a lot of boring aggy halfstep about, but my wallet has a setting that filters that stuff out and I still end up buying too many records.Shonky wrote:Most of what came before barely relates to what goes on now.
