Jammin/Zinc/Bingo appreciation

Post by efa » Fri Mar 28, 2008 1:39 pm

This was possibly my 1st contact with the dark garage sound from the Jungle I was playing back then. Been drawing for these tunes more and more recently and hearing other people do the same.

I really think he's been integral in forming the sound we have today so well worth a thread if there's not one already (goddam search)!

i view zinc as such a pioneer of not just dnb scene, but UK urban as a whole. I swear hes got his fingers in so many different genres; garage, dnb, funky house as moonshine wi geenius, the old breakbeat stuff...proper pioneer

As for Bingo, I haven't really checked out much of their back catalogue, but Hi Grade- The Jug is an absolute classic that always goes off. Like that new goblin tune as well- not your typical dnb rhythm on that one.

Anyone recommend me some other older Bingo bits to check out? Don't matter what kind of music it is, as long as its big.

Try that Zed Bias Jungle bit, I got it really cheap and still play it.

Used to buy all the bingo and running releases religously when I was 15 lol

It got me listening to stuff like ghost, shelflife ect.

Don't think dubstep would have graced my ears so soon if it wern't for mr zinc. big up.

that track "Illa" from his "Faster" LP is one of my favourite pieces of music ever, the man hasn't written a duff track in his life

There was a thread on DNBA the other day about Zinc not DJing at the moment, apparently he's doing stuff in the studio.

Fingers crossed its garage
