Q&A…
Hi everyone, thanks for all the feedback. I've been busy for a while, but now I'm back. I'll try to answer some of the questions in no particular order:
I found the vocal by googling for "adhan mp3". "Adhan" is the call to prayer. I chose this particular recording because it fits perfectly with the mood I'm after, and because of the quality of the recording and of the song. And no, I'm not going to add gunfire and screaming, I'm doing this track out of my respect for the muslim community and it's vocal/musical tradition.
I'm currrently adding a bit of percussion inbetween the kick and snare just to flesh it out structure wise. Something like Tablas or Congas. I'll also add even more *snap* and *kick* to the drums…
I'll look into pitching the kick to add melody to the track. I like the idea a lot, it reminds me of some of the things Wiley are doing with his beats…
As for a 5.1 mix of the track, I'm sorry to disappoint, I haven't the faintest idea how to do surround sound. If I did I'd be happy to oblige. Maybe some of the studio-wizards on the forum will have a go?
I really don't know where my drum samples come from, they're ancient. I do have some 660 samples that I like a lot though…
Feel free to PM me or add me on MSN (kvaternion@hotmail.com) if you've got any questions. I'll update when I've got the track sorted.
