my knobs don't work :(

Post by mae » Thu Apr 10, 2008 2:56 pm

ok so i am using an oxygen 8 that i got second hand off ebay and am having trouble asigning controls in reason 4.

i find i am able to assign things to the pitch wheel, mod wheel and data entry slider with no problem, but when i try to assign to the 8 knobs its doesnt work.

i am hoping there is a simple fix for this because its 'kin annoying. When i turn them the units change on the led display (so it seems to be working) but reason doesnt racognise any changes.

please help! thanks

Not used Reason, but does it have an indicator anywhere that senses when controller information has been triggered?

(Like, Cubase has a little light on the travel bar thing that flashes when I press something)

yeah, it indicates info from the mod wheel, pitch wheel and data entry slider but nothing else

In that case, sounds like the section of PCB that controls the knobs has shorted. Get in touch with the guy who's sold you it and ask him if he's been using it, and for what program.

Easily sorted this one.

1 Right/Control click the parameter you want to control.

2 In the drop down menu that appears, select Edit/Automate parameter.

3 In the next window that pops up, check the button that says 'Learn from control surface'.

4 Turn your knob (you should see a green bar move when you turn the knob), and it should now be assigned to the thing you want to control.

Sorted.
Bored of the same old fucking shit.

Bollocks to it...

i had the same problem with my evolution controller.

i found that i had to make sure it was on the reason preset, otherwise reason would recognize some knobs and not others.

My Oxygen8 is doing a similar thing, only it's sending completely random midi from the knobs whenever i turn one. So it will end up assigning two or three knobs to one parameter when i try to assign them, and then when i try to automate the parameter, seems to have a mind of its own. Really frustrating.

If you go into the Reason Preferences then you can select your control surface from a list or create a new control surface for it to recognise.

I am having the exact same problem with my axiom 25, i have tried a few things but still nothing works.

Can anyone offer a hand as to why the knobs are not being recognized by reason but everything else (my record, play, stop etc buttons also are not recognized)

Thanks.
