I reckon...

Post by psyphon » Thu Apr 10, 2008 12:45 pm

...when you log on to dubstep forum and click on the Production link, a message should appear that points noobs in the direction of the stickies and FAQ's so to stop them posting pointless questions that get no responses other than the big F-Off!

I'm getting increasingly bored of lame questions getting posted up.

Either that or the mods delete the lame Q's and PM the person responsible telling them why it's being deleted.

Otherwise, this forum will die a death very quickly...
Bored of the same old fucking shit.

Bollocks to it...

I was of the opinion that new and old questions, which get repeatedly asked on here, and which are (reluctantly) answered informatively and correctly by other users...help to make the 'search function' and search results all the more healthier, and makes this place a better knowledge base...'for public good'.

I now take that back.

people are actually really really lazy...

As much as The Grid has a bad name for people being flamed...people are flamed accordingly, but that aside, the spectrum of questions relating to production is a damn sight more interesting and wider on the grid than on here...which suggests a great deal.

There definetly needs to be some etiquette with questions posed...For Example: explain what you have tried, upload a soundclip so other's can help out more objectively etc etc. That wouldn't be so bad...but it's the out and out "do this for me" type threads which are too common.

i was pretty much convinced it already had 2b honest - these last few weeks its been fucking painful to read - but i logged on 2day and thought, oh, theres still hope.

maybe.

some slightly more interesting threads than b4 anyway

and the alternative of hanging out in a dark corner of the logicpro forum, as informative as it may be, is not a particularly attractive one: a little TOO technogeek 4 me at times

yeah well...

it's threads like this that are kiling it

IMHO- we can all be a little more helpful

however if some prik comes in here and is "wot like, safe...ow doez yu blood clarts make dem wobbles gwan like that"

get the torches and flamethrowers out

seems for every 4 gash threads, there is one helpful thread

focus on the positive, but keep the ham photos handy

my 2 cents

Here's a little suggestion, maybe the production forum should be divided into categories, such as one for software help, one for hardware help, one on room acoustics, one on recording, one on arrangements and music theory and one for noobs, that just displays the stickies.

an idea could be also to make a wiki like the grid tried to do... when i was in drum'n'bass i learn lot of thing with it !
most the basically question could be answer by a wiki

thats the point of the beginners thread and production bible, but dickheads who think their time is more valuable than yours just ignore it and ask the dumb questions anyway. i guess the situation would b the same with dividing the forum into sections, maybe even worse cos it would give fools the excuse to say they didnt c the relevant section b4 posting their dumbass demands.

problem is, dickheads r gonna b dickheads whatever.

i guess the way the forum has gone in recent months is just an inevitable sign of how much dubstep has blown up. the hype will blow over eventually, and the 14yr old FL crew will move on to sumwhere else with their requests of spoonfeeding from mama

agree with the above - more interest in the scene = more newcomers and more 'noob' questions because they don't bother to search or use the stickies (unfortunately)

the amount of posts on monitors etc despite Decklyn's attempt to centralise matters.. much like Wub's recent attempts too

theres really nought to be done but ignore them and they will naturally fall off the bottom of the page

plus, as Festz said there have been some good ones really and i try and focus on them

dividing the forum into hardware / software isn't a good idea, I don't think anyone would pay attention

And I assume you need info on arranging and acoustics aswell, so just post in all of them. In a way it would tidy the forum up, just as long as peeps stay true to the topics. Or we invent a lazy question filter, preferably one that gives the Perpetrator an electric shock, or am I being a little extreme here?
