Anyone know any decent virtual playback synths?

Post by tox(sic.) » Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:07 pm

Stuff that'll let me playback a sample, change the pitch of the sample, use envelopes and all that jazz.

Just want to check beforst i'm forced to make something on Reaktor.

Chars.

You know how to patch ensembles in Reaktor but you have never heard of a sampler before? Seems a little bit weird to me.

it would be fairly easy to add an ADSR to Edit: any reaktor sampler

even travelizer could suit your needs though it's more granular...

why not use a simple tapedeck module with an ADSR whereby the sample is triggered, you can create controls for pitch and triggering of the sample sequenced or manually.

but firstly i say try random stepshift in the factory library.

Well yeah, before i've only worked with additive/subtractive/modular synthesizers, but now i'm having a go at messing up recorded sounds. Why would i read/research something which i had no current use for?

Thanks for that, i'll give it a try, maybe hook up my MPC for the triggering.

randomstepshift has a sequencer for triggering...where by you can sequence the offset (where the sample playsback from)...how many times, and can also sequence what pitch, part of a sample is pitched at...so part of a sample can be pitch up and the other parts of it pitched down etc etc...

can't beleive you overlooked it as a sampler

Just seemed strange to me, that someone who knows how to use Reaktor (and has a hardware sampler, apparently) wouldn't know something that plays back samples.

I used http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php before i started to use NI Kontakt, if this helps.

random step shifter is a damn handy sampler

loads of very good samplers in the user library - i use Flakes by sonictwist quite a bit

Cheers everyone, i'll make sure i give everyone's suggestions a go. If i get lazy i'll just use kontakt, that seems pretty good.

absynth might be an option too?

Love using absynth to add samples sounds (modulate and evolve the sound in the envelopes... a what fun!)

i believe most soft samplers allow you to sculpt the pitch and volume of a sound as you do with ADSR synths.
