I'm using the AKG K240 Studio since several years and I must say, that they are far superior then most of the studio headphones I owned before (which would be Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic, i sometimes used my Koss PortaPro, when I was on the road). They are half closed, so you can wear them for quite a long time without getting your ears melted and they still have enough bass response. I would not recommend to get the K240 MKII as they are more expensive on not really better.

Um....

20Hz - 20,000 KHz

aka: the normal frequency response of 95% of headphones and the around the level of frequency's that human ears can pick up.

headphones are lovely for producing on, and they can recreate all frequencies between 20hz and 20Khz very well if you splurge on a nice pair. what they will not recreate is the subtle phasing effects that occur when sound has to go from the monitors, around your head, and get to you ears. so i wouldnt worry about trying to accurately create a stereo mix with headphones.

That being said, i could give a fuck. if it sounds good - do it. :D

You know I'm going to say Proline 750s.

I have lots of headphones and the Ultrasones are the only things I'd give houseroom to. Everything else is quite.....frankly......shite.

The K240s are nice if you want to mix acoustic guitar. That open design means piss all bass, unfortunately. Comfortable, though.

Truth.

Worth every penny, but the "holy shit, i left the speakers on" effect can tend to make you a bit paranoid if you are working late at night.

Oh yeah and that does help with the whole thing misk was talking about too
