bass STRESSING u?

Post by le_knigh » Thu Apr 17, 2008 2:26 pm

yes peeps is your bass stressing you? maybe you could give me some other points of veiw, i make alot of bass lines (experimental and complete) also read alot of these threads so sometimes i think to myself probably like everyone does 'does that sound right'?!,,i cant help but notice that alot of people comment on how you need a 'high, mid, and a low' to complete a bass line,is this true? probably wot im trying to say is isit possible to tweak a synth to a point of 'wow' so that all you want to do is put a sub-beaneath it so not intefear with the 'wow' as such by placing a mid, would this be acceptable,,any comments would be fare,,thanx

Yep this is done a lot, its easier to sculpt an interseting mid without worrying about losing sub weight and then add a seperate sub.

i find bass a right bitch to sculpt but im practicing with harmonics/eq and gettin' better a good plugin to use is izotope's spectrom which is much fucking better that eq8 in ableton - dont know what software you use but its a really cool plugin for shaping any sort of sound

1 channel for sub, 1 channel for mid/high, both sent to master via a filter of some sort (1, 2, 3, ad infinitum).

this way i find good sometimes as it means you can mono your bass, and automate effects on the mid/high with having some silly chorused sub or wothavyer.

2c.

peace.

layering/filtering/distort FTW! its the only one law, if one law should exist in making basslines ;)
