The first time i heard dubstep was by Kiffah here in Montreal, at the Blue Dog on a Monday night....he said it was Loefah-
(dont remember what track it was now tho-)
then
My intro to dubstep was Dubway's Dubstep mix-
(dont even know if its still there...but its in my computer for over a year now) http://161.53.74/mixup/dubway/Dubwaypre ... ubstep.mp3

esp.
Digital Mystikz and Loefah/Twis up/ Youngsta, Task VIP mix.. Bombay Squad..........
oh and Crack Bong...

became fully converted after hearing Kode9/ 9 samurai and after seeing Kode 9 in montreal and then Toronto..

this is gonna sound weak... but i guess it would be the track on subtrac's (sek/espionage) myspace, Luke Envoy's "Honour Kill" that made me wanna hear more.

so i grabbed all the mixes he had links to on barefiles, his mix being one of my faves, and Toasty's "Angel" sticking out. since then there's been tonnes of tracks that i've fallen in love with.

bigs,

a mate linked me to a file called ThinKing_October_Dubstep_mix.mp3 - i owe whoever made it several large drinks

i was dumbstruck for the whole thing, because i'd never heard anything like it before, and then The Knowledge dropped and i nearly soiled myself.

I heard dubstep allstars volume 2 - that first tune, by skream I believe - that touched me.
Coming from listening to udnerground hip hop, pure dub & minimal (dub influenced) techno (e.g. basic channel, kyoto, thinnerism etc.) dubstep made sense, if y'know what I mean.
It reminds me of early bassline, 'bleep' stuff, raw & minimal.
