I remember this discussion on dissensus, people were suggesting that techy dubstep with no dub influences whatsoever should be called TECHSTEP

that was me making a joke about how there are so many little microgenres that their names are going to start folding back onto eachother. i think martin thought i'd never heard of techstep.

aye, dont take offense to the title of my mix on barefiles, Substep Volume 1. just brain candy not trying to make some new type of classification :)

I take every creation as it's own entity, even if other people feel it falls within a certain kind of thing that has been happening also.

peace,
annias

yeh we already had to deal with subgenres in Grime. It never stops with Dn'B...dubstep doesn't need it.

While the dubstep tagline does not bother me. I just call what I do Dub, no its not in the Roots tradition but it is dub none the less, to me atleast. When I made a track called "rude bwoy rebel" a buddy of mine said its sounded like dubstep, at that point i had no idea what the hell dubstep was, all I wanted to do is create music using dub production techniques with Reason. So yeaah I make Dub thats it.
