Nope. When i last went to the congo it's all they drank. Literally the women breast fed it to babies!Shonky wrote:Remember the ad from the 80's "um bongo, um bongo, dey drink it in de Congo" which seems unlikely as they'd probably be eating the fresh fruits themselves - so another bit of ad bollox to add to the list
Now that's a lie isn't it. I dunno, try and make a serious point and suddenly the mockers appear. Mock, mock, mockthrenody wrote:Nope. When i last went to the congo it's all they drank. dampner
I don't want to put a dampner on things, but isn't it weird that both of these adverts were pretty dodgy, the lyrics to the um bongo song and the characters in Kia Ora? You couldn't get away with it now, they drink it in the Republic of Congo doesn't flow as well. The 80's was like a different era.I loved the Kia ora song though. I used to love Um Bongo, Kia Ora's a bit butters, used to have it at my grans, it tastes of sweeteners. this really gets me going, back in the day in the supermarket when you nick an Um Bongo or something and your mum says "We'll just put the empty carton in the trolley anyway, then we can tell the nice lady at the checkout you've drank it and pay for it anyway" Like fuck, we never used to give the empty carton back, fuck paying for that, it came off the supermarket tree.
Um Bongo was the juice though man, i wonder if it stilll tastes as good.

Would be great wouldn't it, a dubstep "I Love the 80's" thread, with foodstuff sub-genres. Except I didn't love the 80's - it were shite.metalboxproducts wrote:feelin this thread. Can you feel a thread? Metaphisical like ya get me. 80's kids food stuffs in general. Er hedgehog crisps that lasted one season. The precurser to space raiders that got taken off the shelves because they had more colorings then Sunny D. Fuck no wonder i got cought smashing the churches stained glass windows.
Having said this though, no-one comes up with TV like this anymore

Slightly better than fucking Airport, Big Brother, Celebrity Cuntwatch, The Boy who's Face Fell Off, and Traffic Wardens.
Thank fuck for Time Trumpet - lampooning the early 21st Century nostalgia in pre-emptive stylee
