i see it as a personal duty i must fulfil

i was quite happy when Night snapped up an Aryan pop-fan friend of mine when he heard it on radio 1

surprisingly spongebob and cockey thug attracted a girl from school, and Reso's horny remix got another girl

managed to reel in a religious thrash metal/ screamo head with KJ Sawka - Subconnectors (Press & Selfsimilar Remix) - i think he was lured in by what sounds like a real bass guitar at the beginning -it's off Shift Recordings and it's fearsome; check it if you can

but my greatest challenge yet is my conservative hyper suburbian friend who likes only bands such as Reel Big Fish, Less than Jake, Offspring, Blink 182, Paramore, a band that go "save it for the bedroom" alot etc etc and also craig david

first i tried Lounge Dub by Vista but that failed miserably. i've tried deep stuff, it has no effect. i tried Round the World Girls, he said it was boring. he heard Night and (quite fairly IMO) said he wanted to kill the producer

Additionally, Reel Big Fish and the Offspring are cool.

pretty much the stuff that you dont really need a sub for, people dont appreciate the bass until they hear it in a club on a decent sound system. Or just persuade them to go to a night, they'll almost definately like it. It worked when took some mates. My mates who rinse me for listening to dubstep are now jokingly saying they're coming to nights with me now, they say they're joking but I can tell they kind of want to go

edut: also I learnt that if people take the piss just let them. The people mentioned above always make "wub wub" jokes and I just let them and they're starting to get bored now

also dont push it on them, just play a few tunes every now and then so they dont get sick of it

just saying coz my firend who introduced me to dubstep(burial), played it on his laptop speakers, i was like wtf is this shit?! luckily i looked further into it, but youre friends might not

although i don't see the point in forcing certain genres on your mates.
if you keep it in their face, they will start to dislike it just for the sake of disliking it because you're forcing it upon them.

i play some dubstep to my mates when they're round. most of them hate it, but one of my most anti-dubstep friends has finally seen the genius of skeng.
if i'd forced it on him, he would've told me to fuck off with that grime shit, but i was just having a mix, not even trying to freak him out or anything, and he picked up on skeng's funny lyrics and got me to play it again and again and again.

i'd played it to him before...''check this tune its killer!'' and he didn't give a fuck. but when i let him 'discover' it himself, he fucking loved it!

do your mates a cd of dubstep...let them find the tunes they like in their own time without you telling them how fucking amazing you think it is.

geeze thanks! this kinda thing means alot to me, thanks for including the label info so peeps kind find the tune aswell. (avialable dititally form juno,digitaltunes,addictech etc etc))

the bass is real in the original we were givin all the tracks bounced down individually so in essence it is a sample but a sample of a real bass that was played and recorded for the original. if that makes sense.

even though i am quite the crusader when it comes to introducing people to new, good music, i also believe wholeheartedly in letting it be an organic process.

you cannot force anyone to like something. that's been the modus operandi of the mainstream music business for years, and look where it's gotten them. now everyone steals music instead of buying it because they are sick of having crap music shoved down their throats.

just keep doing what you do. give people cds, invite them to shows, and let them come to the music when it hits them. what one person may think is shit, someone else may love. just keep playing the stuff that really grabs you emotionally, and i guarantee someone will love it.

but i don't want anyone to feel forced into it. they will find it if the time, the mood and the emotion resonates with them on a personal level.

Ive found people will get into it at their own pace, some people get it instantly some people it takes a lot of time for the sound to do something to them!

One of my friends despises everything but Distance tracks, which is fair enough for me, he also is getting into Boxcutter and Shackleton now..
But he got into him out of choice, I was having a spin on my mates decks and played Fallen and he was like "OMG WHAT IS THIS TRACK" ..

Some people don't "get" it like other have, just give it time..The more people are around it, the more they tend to find something they like.
