Good idea. Also, offtopic, back up your important files from your computer. Buy a cheap harddrive, and top it up with your fresh tunes. Take it out every night and keep it in good condition. I have three harddrives and a shit load of CD's in my electricals cupboard, backed up with all my songs since 2004. It sounds like hassle, but it will stop complaining when your computer crashes, and you don't need to find all your files, and just recover them with ease.

Very good advice. At the very least if you don't want to get a harddrive just burn data cds or dvds with anything important. DVDs can hold quite a bit. It can be a pain in the ass, but i've been hearing too many stories about people loosing everything. Sad!BlizzardMusic wrote:Good idea. yea i noticed that this site is hosted at the planet in texas.. its a good thing it wasnt effected when their main datacenter had an explosion a little while ago....
June 1st 2008
Houston, TX (AHN) -- An explosion Saturday evening at a Texas-based, privately held server hosting provider has caused server outages effecting 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers.
According to The Planet's website, at about 5 p.m. Saturday electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding their electrical equipment room.
No injuries were reported and no servers were damaged or lost.
i dont know what type of backup systems the planet offers but i do know that dreamhost.com makes snapshots of everything on a hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
it has saved me at least once when i tried to update the backend of dubstep.fm, and just about hosed 80 gigs of archived shows.. so i checked out their backup systems and it was super easy.. just copy the files from the snapshot/daily directory in my home dir and bam.. back in business....
but yea.. anyone who doesnt run backups is askin for it =]
big up dubstepforum.com and be thankful you arent hosted in the planets H1 datacenter =]
cheers
