Dubstep comes to Wales!(?)

Post by the wiggle baron » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:54 am

Well, saying that. I just played a dubstep set at the university of Glamorgan union night club...

Possibly the smallest audience i have seen for anything in the history of the world ever. Ok, slight exaggheration (sp?) but it wasnt exactly rammed.

Still, at least i broke the universities 10k rig with Punisher VIP.

On a slightly more serious note though, are there any regular dubstep nights anywhere in Wales?

one time about a year and a half ago i played for at least half the set to a room in which there was solely bar and cloakroom staff. the cloakroom brer was going nuts for it though which made it EASILY worth it. there were of course the obligatory requests....

bloke lucky to have any lip left: "mate, mate, you got anything, you know, with a bit more ENERGY?"
me: "its all gonna be dubstep, but its got a lot of energy if you give it a go"
bloke: "you not got any dnb?"
me: "its dnb downstairs man"
bloke: "seen" (exits)

girl: "do you have any nelly?"
me: "sorry"

and this was in bristol

Well, imagine that evening you played elgato, then add two hideously drunk girls who havn't the foggiest whats going on to the equation and then rubber chicken.

One of the funniest sites ive ever seen.

Actually, no. The funniest site was peoples faces as the only other guy there who had heard of dubstep (friend of mine) pulled up a crowd reload on ruffage. God bless 'em.

we've put dubstep nights on in newport for a while, had some sick people down for that. www.myspace.com/bonuslevelbass. they may not be packed out but the vibes are there.
