Sorry I didn't scan the previous entries so I don't know if its been reviewed or not but...if anyone's read it, is it worth it? I try...I really do.....but for some reason, every time I get to around page 70 or so, I completely lose interest. But I've heard it was brilliant...and I'm lookin for something to do this weekend. Is it worth the trek? Thanks!
Yes, in my opinion. I agree it's not exactly the easiest but I reckon your perseverance will be rewarded (it usually is with books)
thanks for that! :D

I thought that was wicked, hilarious in places, insightful in others, and ultimately very well written. Might read it again actually..

Iv read "On The Road" but found it to be pretty pretentious, boring and stale. Kerouac was defintely the worst of the beatnik generation.

Just finished

the teachings of the 'toltec warrior' don juan.

some pretty decent visual descriptions and accounts of a lot of weird things/reality-perceptions he taught Carlos Castaneda
You think about yourself too much and that gives you a strange fatigue that makes you shut off the world around you and cling to your arguments.
A light and amenable disposition is needed in order to withstand the impact and the strangeness of the knowledge I am teaching you. Feeling important makes one heavy, clumsy, and vain. To be a man of knowledge one needs to be light and fluid.

One has to reduce to a minimum all that is unnecessary in one's life.

Once you decide something put all your petty fears away. Your decision should vanquish them. I will tell you time and time again, the most effective way to live is as a warrior. Worry and think before you make any decision, but once you make it, be on your way free from worries or thoughts; there will be a million other decisions still awaiting you. That's the warrior's way.
A warrior thinks of his death when things become unclear. The idea of death is the only thing that tempers our spirit.

To be a warrior you have to be crystal clear.
