i did think that i mainly wanted to hear ravey, up-beat stuff in the dance.
then i went to a dubstep do.
got hit by tunes by loefah, digital mystikz, kode9 etc.
realised that the rational mind knows nothing about enjoying music.
nowadays, to me, really jumped up, mega-kean beats just sound a bit naive and obnoxious.
but that is only my rational mind speaking.

i don't think burial sounds dubby.

People that listen to dubstep ,and more specifically..people who spend their lives being involved in all the bullshit burial talk on this forum, need to realise that they are every bit as sad as a Sun reader and stop thinking that they have the moral high ground..because you quite obviously do not.

too dense and thickly layered to sound dubby.
that's if "dubby" means it reminds you of dub.
it doesn't remind me of dub at all.

its not dubby cos ders no reggae dub sounding influences in it.

its not dark because it has a lot of positive 2steppy old skool garage sounds tied in with a ravey/ambient backing.

dark dubstep promotes a more serious/deep atmosphere...

listening to burial is more like a beam of light rather then a deep dark room, its very emotive and its quite reflective and chilling ambient kind of music, not dark at all.

dunno wot the fuck ur listenin to tbh.

i hope that wasnt directed at me?

would be dumb to be directed at me, cos ive only had 1 opinion on the whole matter, no more no less. no discussion.

its nt sad in any sense to have an opinion on something aslong as its backed by knowledge, which is the difference between the sun and their readers, and ppl who listen to the music.

how can u have legitimate opinion on something u have little or no knowledge on.

true.
This thread is starting to piss me off. Thats why we have dubstep. I am a HUGE fan still of dnb, but thats the problem with it. A few yrs ago, I was trying to kill myself to identify every producer w/ every sub-genre. Now, I dont care and I think in order for dubstep to remain pure is to not allow sub-genres or sub-labels.

When the journalsists start labeling the music we listen to, then it goes to the public and record shops and eventually our raves and club nights become divided too.

Do you actually listen to music? Or do you just sit around in your room getting angry with people who write for the Sun?

"dark" is too generalised a term to use on its own to describe music. It means something different to most people. For instance you could say Lone wolf stuff is dark its distorted, agressive heavy guitar riffs etc, whereas say kode9 - confusion i'd say is also dark its brooding implied by the lyrics & sound. totally different tunes both could be described as dark.

anyway this argument is soo old its been done to fuckin death. Its wasnt even originally worth debating much "ravey is better for clubs, deep is better bla bla, i listen to better music than you wank wank wank"

for such a big forum the level of debate & discussion on here is fuckin pathetic its a fuckin joke. The best chats about dubstep on internet ive had were on other forums which have nothin to do with it.

anyway rant other carry on
