im curious as to when the last time you came partying over here was? surely to state something like that as a fact you must have been here a lot, coast to coast, right?
this thread is hillarious! i love when people get into territorial pissing contests, ie. country A has way better music than country B, ive listened to every tune and i know!!! there's so much going on underground in each city/country and truely, unless youve lived there, you dont know.
big up everyone who's not talking nonsense

I only read the first page but as a few people said I think it's all about the British accent for Grime. I have heard a few sick American MCs over Grime though so it can work, as long as the DJ and MC are tight. I think certain people miss that connection in the studio.

yesssss...
not to start any more beef but I really think that the massive popularity of commercial rap has really skewed almost everyone's perception of what the music actually is (or was)...
so i wouldn't mind at all if americans started using grime as a way of getting back to what made mc and dj culture so sick to begin with

haha!...coz that's how it happens homeboy. you can't fly out to london for every DMZ so you start your own scene but then you have to tailor it to suit the tastes of the crowd in your town. then if it starts blowing up you start making tunes for your town and then there you go...its a new sound.

quit crying about it.
drum and bass and grime will always be known coming from london/europe.
stop trying to take that from them.
get over it.
when you think otherwise watch that shit slime back in. boom head shot.

as far as i can see noone started getting territorial, all ory was saying is rep ur location, do what u do, over whatever beat u wanna ride.
noone was saying that grime doesnt belong outside london, they were simply saying that its percieved as small outside ldn
noone is attacking the US man a man so dont get defensive!
we're all here for the music not the beef.

ok ok.
but i guess the rules of where it should go should be left to the originators and the listeners(which can be outside of the original birth location)
infact what we should do is bitch about synths and sound wavs. because these elements and much more are what created grime, dub step, and even drum and bass.
even human vocals. we should bitch about who owns human vocals.
KEEP DAT SHIT TO UM. oH FUCK.
WELL UM.
YEAH SYNTHS AND COMPUTERS. KEEP THAT SHIT IN UNITED KINGDOMS. WE MADE THAT SHIT. YALL KNOCK OFF. RIGHT NOW.

well I was more commenting on USA's rejection of rave in favour of hip-hop, and the effects it's had to this day... but whatever.

should always try to bring your own sound, no matter where in the world you are.

hip hop and electronic music have always fed off and inspired each other, and both are better for it

you're def right about coming up with your own sound

Like when all the Detroit originators hated what the UK was doing with acid / rave styles - should've been
shut down there and then and we wouldn't have had any of this 'drums and bass' or 'dub step' fucking things up.
