Warped records

Post by pangaea » Thu Jul 20, 2006 6:46 pm

Dammit, I put in a £55 order to Boomkat, recieve my records, and the majority of them are warped :(

What do I do? Send them back? Or has anyone had any success in un-warping vinyl before?

the sun and two sheets of glass does work. just be careful not to leave it there too long.

If they were ALL warped, sounds like they were warped on route and not at Boomkat.

Likewise I've never had an issue with them...

If you look around you should find a couple of threads relating to this issue. There is a number of methods you can use to rewarp your wax.

1, Leave them at the back of a pile of records for a long time.

2, put them under a pile of heavy books for a long time.

3, Iron them through a towel on a low heat setting. This is you quickest solution .

4, Don't bother sending them back it takes to long.

I reckon it's the summer time that does it.

If they weren't warped at Boomkat then they could have been sitting in a hot Royal Mail van for hours just warping away.

I keep all my wax in blocks of about 2 foot - the weight of them all has evened out any wobbles, but that's over a period of a year or more.
