Downloaded the deathstep villa pt 2 mix next to the interview..Fair play for trying something different but I have to admit, I did laugh when the burzum track came into the mix with some kinda of rapping over it..that was funny.

Personally, I can't see for the life of me how black metal and dubstep can be played next to each other and it NOT sound out of place.

dance music's shit though...rock and electronic music have merged successfully on a number of occasions, its just when people try and throw it together with some crappy dance genre that things go tits up

Godflesh is a good example of a successful meeting of rock and electronic music.

Christ, I think 4 hours of someone mixing Drone Metal and Dubstep would make me want to scream for Judge Jules. If you listen or just check the tracklisting on the full download, the concept is not just about Drone Metal and Dubstep and about mixing genres generally. However Part 1 looks like the most literal "Death/Step" section. It is a bit of a shit name really I guess but then what club name isn't?

There's always metalstep, which was applied to that Vex'd and Distance mix on MAH's show a year or two ago.

I'd love to hear some Nadja stuff remixed by dubstep producers, personally.

That Vex'd and Distance mix is great and Nadja are way cool. Thank the lord this forum isn't just full of people who define Dubstep by what Martin Clark writes or MAH plays. You should check out Alcest if you like Nadja - Shoegazing Black Metal from France.

Also the Seefeel track on Deathstep Part 1 is awesome! I only knew their more guitary stuff but that tune sounds like something Hyperdub would put out now. Here's to more genre raping and pillaging, fuck the purists!

Interesting stuff indeed. I don't know if the mixture of traditional bm and dubstep could ever work - I think the aesthetics of the two are at loggerheads a lot of the time - but it's nice to see something like this being attempted nonetheless.
