I agree there. I was just a little confused that people seemed to distance Skweee so much from Hip-Hop. To the point of saying it does not contain any Hip-Hop elements.ballers wrote:skwee contains elements of hip hop and other genres.
every genre is being bastardised / innovated..thats a good thing...no point in discussing the ins and outs of it.

anyway leaving this alone now, this discussion is just distracting from the music

Eitherway, don't get all Montel, it's just a conversation. And I've found it quite interesting.

well the main aspects of hip hop are widely accepted being DJing/beat making, rapping, graffiti, breakancing/B boying - which i was arguing aren't particularly prevalent in skweee, and they're certainly not the basis of the musicrekorder wrote:Skweeelicious! wrote:can't say i agree at all. unlike hiphop, skweee is not sample-based. the grooves tend to be a lot more off-kilter. really the tempo is about the only thing that's the same.rekorder wrote: Skweee is Hip-Hop.badger wrote: i thought the whole idea behind hip hop was that it was a culture, and one that is made up of several parts, none of which are really applicable to skweee.![]()

and this is clearly saying that skweee doesn't contain any elements of hip hop

anyway i'm not going to bother with this any more (and i mean it this timebadger wrote:i'm not disagreeing that it's sonically similar because it clearly is.

Some Skwee in stock at Redeye, you'll find it in the new Leftfield/Hip Hop section.
It's the first wave of a new direction for us along with a club/bmore section, there is not too much in stock just yet but we are on the case and will be picking whatever we can.
Any thoughts I'd be interested to hear.
Have a good weekend.
Cheers, Tom.
