Post by kingduppy » Sun Aug 31, 2008 9:29 pm

ERM... BASICALLY HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING AWAY for 3 months n i come back n the first gig i go to everyone starts shouting 'you what, you what' , i found out today its from that cheeeeeesy bassline tune.... but basically.... what... the... fuck? why?
it was funny in a tongue-in-cheek way when everyone kept on sining night for a couple of months last year but this is silly 'you what you what'.

oh seen.

was der any bassline on the line up? n where was dis rave.

invaded by bassline ravers, or sheep who caught the hype of this one tune.

bassline is such hollow music, completely no depth and too narrow in its sound for me to listen to too much of it.

You Wot has been played everywhere, even my local Barracuda bar. The DJ there goes on a random bassline sesh, i heard a Spin Spin Sugar bassline remix a while ago.

nah no bassline on the lineup- in notts. main room dnb 2nd room dubstep. still dont think they wud have brought in the bassliners. im glad bassline came out- probably prevented alot of tossers getting into their dubs.bad experience in a bassline club. ironically it ended in some pushing n a guy saying 'you what' alot at me- probably why the tune haunts me

yeah its so annoying, happened last detonate as well but i thought maybe just because it was rusko last time it had brought a load of stnuc in, but clearly the problem is bigger than that.

maybe detonate needs a bassline room to lock them all into... i suggest the cloakroom.

lmao @ thinking its snobbery.

i dnt think anyone has anything against other music scenes regardless of size or success...

just difference in tastes.

like the taste u have for food, u aint gonna nt show disapproval if u eat sumin u dislike.

yeah obviously people are going to have different tastes but people do seem to just be hating on bassline to make them feel clever. maybe you and a few others are the exceptions to that rule but it just seems a bit sad to me. Kulture's comment for example is basically saying "people who like bassline are stupid" unless im getting the wrong end of the stick. Its no more formulaic than dubstep and has its own challenges when it comes to proper execution and production. It just seems like the attitude some people from dubstep have towards bassline is the same attitude people from late DNB had towards garage, which led to them ignoring some of the best music to come out in the late nineties/ early 00s, and also catching on to dubstep late as they just saw it as more garage.
