For years now, it's been a big hollywood trend to take a classic (or even a shitty movie, they don't care) and "remake" it. Is there any movie in particular that you DON'T want to see remade?
For me, it's 'The Exorcist'. Fuck, I hope that never happens.
I'm a big horror fan, and this genre seems especially prone to crappy remakes. Just recently learned about the Friday the 13th remake that's currently in production. In a production still I saw, Jason runs, has long flowing hair, and wears a freakin' tool belt.

Furthermore, Jason was barely in the original Friday for more than 2 seconds.

I'm pissed off that they are remaking REC in english, it wouldn't be such a bad thing, if it wasn't a year or so after the original spanish film came out, and it wasn't a bloody shot-by-shot remake.
Seriously what's the point? If you don't understand the spanish, there are subtitles, if you don't like subtitles there are dubbed versions (which are horrible normally, but a lot cheaper to make than a whole new, identical film). Plus, it's being remade for an american audience, a country where 34 million people speak spanish as a first language anyway.
I can't understand the rationale behind that

Sweeney Todd is alright to be fair. I might even go as far as to say that it is a good film, and I'd recommend watching it.

agree entirely. i was blown away at how good the original was, then went straight onto imdb to read up some more about it where i clocked the remake coming out in a matter of months with all kinds of unnecessary americanisations thrown in, probably to make it slightly more 'feature length' (couple of changes i noticed from the trailer were that there's the infected dog actually in the building and the swat teams outside shoot someone trying to escape, thereby stomping all over the subtlety).

Not too keen on the idea of the live action Akira that is coming out next year, but I'm hoping to be proved wrong.
