dance however you like, but i think its important to consider the room your in as well as the people around you. if you've got people just in their own headspace and meditating on the music, and you come rushing in just because you want to push people around, expect people to get pissed. its about considering the people around you at a dance.

remember that not everyone comes to dances for the same reasons. some people want to go nuts, some people want to chill out, and some people want to hold their girl and just zone out. if you want to ruin that by acting selfish, then don't cry about it when you get told off.

yeh seckle summed it up nicely.

moshing is selfish. if ders no room for u to skank, den dats probably what everyone around u is thinking, so just move sumwer else.

I'm not one to "mosh" at a dubstep night, but one time while I was out hearing Juju last year, a moshpit kinda inadvertantly broke out because the club was @ capacity and there were a ton of people going nuts in a packed space. Fun as hell. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, so it didn't seem selfish or outta place. Haven't seen it since then, though.

In summary: moshing is setting/situational thing. If it just sort of breaks out, why not? But largely I think skankin' or brockin' out or whatever you wanna call it is more of what you'll experience at a dubstep party.

Yeah, agree with that.

Chucking yourself at people who don't want it is obviously asshattery of the highest order, but if some people want to go nuts and bang into each other over there and everyone else wants to skank or whatever over there I don't see the problem. If you can't get a bit of space because you're in a club where you need to right in front of the decks or you can't hear anything, leave and go somewhere with a proper system.

This is what's been happening at rock gigs since forever - its simple enough that pissed up metal fans can understand it, it shouldn't be too hard for bleeding edge urban sophistacates like ourselves...

Moshing in clubs would seem a little pointless to me, free parties are a different case. If you want to have alikkle nuts time then go for it, but dubstep is surely a bit to slow for it. Ive seen plenty of it at hard trance nights and techno etc. But i dont like to piss anyone off, cos im a bit of a luvvly dreadboy and it ALWAYs rubs at least one person up the wrong way. Plus its usually for people who are sexually frustrated to rub up against each other....that beign said individual dancing sometimes just isnt avin it enough

I used to be to be well into it when I was about 16. But as I've got older and more haggard it has seemed less and less appealing. At punk and metal gigs its just standard and everyone knows to expect it. But at more dance oriented nights it's a bit selfish, you will bang into people who aren't involved.

And there is definitely some sexual frustration being worked out in those things. Loads of topless, sweaty men banging against one another? Hmm... -q-

at the dubfiles launch couple weeks back there was some fool crowd surfing towards the end of the night.

i dont really care if people want to mosh, but it fucks up my bein able to groove.

no one was moshing to D1's set though... actually my favourite.

sorry it took so long for me to respond. i didn't necessarily mean moshing in the sense of the douche bags at shows who wear bandanas and spin kick into the sides of the pit. i just meant, go to a hardcore show, where the music is loud, full of energy, where moshing is warranted. going to a club or a rave and moshing seems to me to be a stupid idea. that's all. dance music and moshing dont match.
