Does anyone else always buy the wrong records?

Post by Pada » Wed Sep 10, 2008 6:47 pm

everytime i buy records - either online or at tribe I always realise i like other records more and should have bought them instead. Leaves me with a bag where i dislike half the tunes!

does this happen to anyone else? or are you all pleased with your purchases.

its a condition. no matter what you buy, you'll like the stuff you didn't. you could buy 100 12"s and get bored too quick with them. sign of the times, mate.

it happens to me quite a bit, i try to buy things out of the ordinary, things my homies havent rinsed to death on dub for months, things in a more obscure style....doesnt always work out.....i buy online and alot of times the clips do not do the tune justice, or they do too much justice if you feel me.

Sometimes I'll pick up a record in the store that sounded great, then I get home and play it and I'm like, "Now, why did I buy this one?"

But for the most part I'm good at only buying shit I like.

i'm just really picky, basically NEVER buy a tune i decide i don't like. all my stuff either gets played a lot in the club or at home, sometimes not one or the other but i always get my money's worth.

you see im the opposite i strive to have all the big tunes in my bag :P obviously only ones i like though! and then i look for new stuff that I know should be bigger than it is (when rustie first got a release i knew that was heavy even though he want that big, same with DZ)

Edit: I just realized my problem - i get my money every 2 weeks so i wait until i get my money and then spend it straight away (usually go into tribe the following saturday or go on chemical that night and get a big pile of tunes and decide between them)- instead of saving my money and buying tunes as and when they come out - so i end up missing loads of releases because they area few weeks old when i get round to buying [does that make sense?]

I used to pick out 10 tunes i liked and then squeeze it down to 5, picking the records i really really liked and wanted. That way you get rid of any shit.

Sometimes you have to take risks on records (particually when buying vinyl online). For everyone that disappoints there is one that suprises...

I kind of keep a running list in my head of tunes i absolutely MUST have, and I never buy online, so i wait for this one tiny shop to get shipments in and I just get whatever's in off my mental list. Their shipments aren't overly amazing, but they get a good bit of the stuff I'm feeling lately.
I'd say i only buy about 3 records every two weeks or so, perfect for my budget.

its simple, once yu've bought it an have it at your disposal you lose interest in it, unless of course its the golden record! = timeless classics and so on

i always buy bag a load pay for them, then realise i want more and end up paying for shipping twice.

i dont know why i keep doing it its fucking annoying! i find the redeye reserve system helps my habit.

Theres too many good tunes about, and i get way to exited when i shop lol.

i'll have jahway off you, haven't got round to buying it yet and its a big tune!
only dubstep records i've got that i don't want are the burial thom yorke remixes and grime 2 lp, what do you say?

as for buying the wrong records...no! all my dubstep is fat, i've dropped it all at parties or in mixes, and its all getting battered!
i'm not rich enough to impulse-buy records, so i make sure the tune is dope before i get the spondooliks out. simple.

if you're buying the wrong records repeatedly, you're too rich. you're probably the kind of person that buys a few grams of coke for a weekday night.

either that or you're stupid :D

Your always gonna like the next tune you hear. Just go for it and buy the record. Or get a night job so you can support your habit..........

not buying a tune on time that i want and see it sold out later is heavy. i don't like it. i'm ashamed of myself not buying some dmz's that are now sold out. silly me :!:
