Rage Against the Machine was never lumped into the whole nu metal thing in my opinion.

they'd been doing that shit since 92 and were basically a step ahead of everyone.


and the deftones first two albums are still fucking great in my opinion.

Urban dance squad started this whole rap metal thing in '86. Its sad that they saw their genre fall apart right before them.

UDS Invented the genre... Anthrax is the only one that got publicity for what they did with public enemy in the early '90's. Anthrax and PE didnt invent it.

Urban Dance Squad and to an extent Faith No More had the whole rap rock thing going on. Limp Biz and Crazy Town and all these awful bands came along years later acting like they created something unique.
