Net Worth of Dubstepforum...
http://www.websiteoutlook.com/www.dubstepforum.com
Net Worth : $44851.2
Daily Pageview : 20480
Daily Ads Revenue : $61.44
61.44x30 = $1843.20 per month in ad revenue.
Still using a free BB software. Still sometimes surpassing the bandwidth allowances.
I wonder if DSF will ever be using that money for like... I dunno a radio server, offering mix hosting, tune hosting, adding more features to the site, etc?
Figured I'd drop a poll, as these numbers are technically theoretical... if DSF is making $22,000 in ad revenue per year, do you think they should be doing something with that money, or pocketing it?

Don't think so some how. It's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.
*Waits for the rumours*
the forum is not making that much money.

The way that works is the ads that show up when you install the ap are counted, if I'm not mistaken. So yea, every time it's installed Facebook gets revenue from the clicks.
Just like DSF does. If they are, I just expect a moderate return for all of that. Not to mention I buy all my stuff digital, so every time I buy from Beatport, I'm supporting that stuff.
I'd drop 45k to buy this place right this second, knowing that information. Tomorrow you would be seeing immediate changes, and for the better. If these are incorrect numbers, I'd like to see the real legit numbers.

How much is it making?boomnoise wrote:the forum is not making that much money.
Should it be MAKING MONEY or making enough money to stay open, that is the question. If it's making money, shouldn't that go to improvements?
EDIT: Google is worth 1.2 Billion according to the same site, which is MUCH less than Google is worth, which really makes me wonder what the actual worth of Dubstepforum is.

Why does it need to make money or lose money? Why do you need answers?phobang wrote: How much is it making?

Then you sir, are an idiot. I would rather employ someone to suck my dick for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for a whole year.phobang wrote:I'd drop 45k to buy this place right this second, knowing that information.
Maybe you should read about approximation's, revenue forecasting, click through rate and actually think about how long the adverts have actually been on dubstepforum for.
See the one about powered by phpBB? I wonder how many clicks they get a day. If they got a lot I would eat my own hat but it's safe to say they won't get that many.
Also, wrong about facebook. The value is based upon amount of users, and daily active users.
Also, 1 post = 3 page views, minimum.
And I want to know where this site gets its data from. We only have google analytics installed on ours and it still gives us an evaluation.
The board has gone down before due to exceeding bandwidth, meaning sometimes it's NOT here at all. Makes sense to ask. If this wasn't here, it'd be somewhere else.seckle wrote:Why does it need to make money or lose money? Why do you need answers?

And that is a terrible attitude to have, showing little appreciation for the people who make this site what it is and boosting those who make it what it isn't.
I don't need the answers and I didn't really ask you or any of the mods for an explanation, so much as I asked the people who post on this site. Take off your admin hat for a second and put yourself in our position. A website you visit a lot is potentially making a killing and still using the same layout and software they've been using for years. It's outdated and some of the policies are definitely questionable.
What do you think that X Site should do if they're making 22 grand a year?
Why are you so bothered that this thread exists if it's not true?
I have plenty more questions, but I'll save them for people with no financial interest in the answers.
EDIT: I'm not an idiot, Ashley. I just know it would pay for itself. No danger of this site losing all it's users anytime soon.

I think the site is fine. The software does its job perfectly. Look at how facebook and a number of other forums and sites change their layout ad programming and go to pot. Rwd forums were fcuked once they changed their service. Whats it to you how much a web site is making? Its the managements site. Their idea, their product.
You dont (or shouldnt) go around finding out how much people earn and then go on telling them how their money should be spent so I dont see why you should do it on here.
Just a thought.

any bright spark will know that the info from that link is based upon every user clicking an ad and buying from it therafter everyday. which is no way to estimate profit.
Anyway, why do they owe you anything? it's not a public service.

I post here and my opinion on the direction of the site should matter, just like your opinion it shouldn't change should be valued as highly. Yea, it's their site. It's McDonald's fast food establishment, so they can tell their customers to fuck off and never clean the place up. I mean, it's their establishment, why should they have to clean?Neville Bartos wrote:I think the site is fine. The software does its job perfectly. You're right though, it's all them. Always has been.

Beatport pays to have that ad up top, just like the ads at the bottom need clicks. So that beatport ad generates revenues for simply being there. Just like if I advertised on DOA, it would cost me a flat rate, not per load.spencerTron wrote:any bright spark will know that the info from that link is based upon every user clicking an ad and buying from it therafter. which is no way to estimate profit.

This isn't a google ad.
This issue I can see is contentious, so I'll just drop it. I hope you guys enjoy that money.

The site doesn't have to pay for itself, forums aren't bandwith intensive - its only when you have a fuck load of people that visit every day (especially those in the SNH) that it adds up.phobang wrote:The board has gone down before due to exceeding bandwidth, meaning sometimes it's NOT here at all. We pay more for our getdarker (2 dedicated servers) than DSF probably does but we run more shit like my facebook app which pays for it all through ad revenue and six other websites including a mirror for a commercial content management system.
The site is self sufficient. The admin's aren't out to make a quick buck. If they were then they would have flogged it ages ago. The forums best interests are looked after by a bunch of people who have their heads screwed on and a goal to provide a place for Dubstepper's to congregate - not to lag the site even more by requesting data from third party people.
Just because money makes your world go round, doesn't mean it makes everyone else's.

you're a bell end go tell someone who gives a toss. Dubway used to lose money on DSF and he provides a service and I am in no doubt any money made will go back into the forum rather than into his pocket
Now please go back to playschool

flashy looking websites and flashy web features don't make people communicate better. myspace and facebook are obsessed with trying to over-design each other into the 22nd century. we're focused on community and music. period.
we've never been a site to ram products down people's throat and try and sell everything possible to you. the ad you see uptop is to maintain the server costs.

Myspace is gaining users exponentially. They also have to make those changes because there is competition. There is no real competition for DSF(yet, but trust me... seeing the response here from the staff everytime someone has a problem is making it all clear to me that one is needed)seckle wrote:flashy looking websites and flashy web features don't make people communicate better. myspace and facebook are obsessed with trying to over-design each other into the 22nd century. we're focused on community and music. period.

Nobody said shit about flashy sites or features, more or less turning off the feature that won't let me use any of the installed themes, etc would be a great start.
Anyway, you've made your point. Never will dubstepforum invest in far superior software. I understand. Change is bad. Unless he's totally inexperienced, in which case you'll be all over it right?
Peace to this topic.
deamonds wrote:i like fucking girlfriends, whether they are mine or not
now that you brought it up I'm quite glad that dubstepforum is as stripped down as it is, and the folks who manage it are not interested in its 'net worth', even through the music's popularity explosion. instead of being competitive they're remained cooperative with related sites like Barefiles and GetDarker.
